Where did you find the SK tee shirt, if I may ask?
SK recently started carrying short and long sleeve shirts on their site! Also a couple of hoodies and women's shirts. Just search shirt or hat on the site and they'll come up. c29c1e9145380bc592684992677d33fa.jpg

My daughter saw this in a store in LA.

$385USD. Apparently it sold later that day.

I received an impact driver that I'd put in my Amazon Wish List. Nice there are tools that still come in a steel case. Makes me think of someone 50 years from now finding the (now rusty and aged) tool and grabbing it up because they don't make them like they did in 2019!

Since this is our first Christmas as empty nesters, the wife and I opened one gift this morning.

She said this wasn't what she ordered but I would take advantage of it. I put down a Lufkin tape measure on the list and she order ONE tape measure.

However, the person packing the order put sent one BOX.

HDlYp7C.jpg

That happened with me when my wife ordered one S-K Tool wipe container, and they sent a whole case...
This was not from S-K,but from another very large online seller.

There was a similar thing with Wera screwdrivers that lasted for about a week a couple years ago. There had to of been at least 20 people that would order one Wera screwdriver and get 12 of them.

Got me the M18 cordless jobsite fan, Christmas present from one of my lil brothers. Don't think I would ever have bought one for myself but will come in handy now that I have one.

Wish the AC adapter was built into the unit so all you have to do is plug in an extension cord like other brands but whatever, I'm not complaining.

Picked up an Ames DM600 Multimeter at Harbor Freight the other day with a $24.99 Coupon. I only use one occasionally so I dont have alot of experience with multimeters but this ones done everything Ive needed to do so far. It seems like decent quality and for the price I have no complaints.

I probably have a lot of stubborn fasteners in my future when I rebuild the brakes and suspension on my Camaro. Problem is the Koken is so pretty I'm going to hate hitting it with a hammer!

Got a $50 Harbor Freight gift card for Christmas so I figured it was as good a time as any to get some metric sockets. Grabbed their 1/4” Metric shallow and deep well and 1/2” metric shallow and deep well sockets. Also snagged a 1/4” fire grinder to try. For $13, I won’t be too mad if it breaks.

Possibly the best haul in recent times, $40 after the SYW tomfoolery at Sears got this Craftsman impact set.

this is one i have always wanted but never could justify. I work in the field in harsh So Cal conditions. the summers inland are warm, dryish but warm.

I love my porta cool and thought that i could some way make this work similar as i always have ice available.

the other is running trucks when there isnt much ventalation , putting this near the tail pipe would help keep the fumes away.

please let us know how you like it

And here I thought Oregon had some of the last Kmart and Sears stores until they closed earlier in the year. I had to go into a Kohls for an Amazon return yesterday. How is that store still in business?

Finally got me a couple of Ernst socket holders. I'm happy with them.

I knew the Craftsman China impact sockets were cheap but damn, didn't expect this ****. Bought these a while back & never checked them. The 14mm 1/2" deep socket wasn't actually a 14mm like the laser etching said it was. It was a 16mm & the socket was thinner than the 16mm socket in the set. Laser etching said Craftsman but wasn't stamped Craftsman on the socket. Was stamped Halfords Advanced.

Luckily there's still a local Sears & they showed em in stock. I drive down there and none to be found. No surprise. After checking the racks for a 3rd time I actually found a 14mm socket but attached to a 15mm card. Got it exchanged under warranty & all is well. Didn't pay much for these Craftsman impact socket sets anyway so whatever, they'll do for now.

I picked up the DeWalt alternative about a month ago. Not really for me - but for my wife during tennis season with our middle child. Grabbed a two pack of 4 amp hour batteries cheap during the sales this Christmas for a longer run time.
Like you, I would have never bought it for myself. But now that I have it, I can see myself using the hell out of it. It's quiet and very powerful and rated at about 7 hours on a 4 amp hour battery at full speed.

Halfords appears to be a UK brand. I wouldn’t say it’s “cheap” at £45 for an 18 piece impact set which is like $60 or so, it's at least as expensive as Sears charges for theirs (or at least approximately since they don’t have any 18 piece sets at Sears that I’ve seen).

One thing I’ll give the Craftsman is they are sufficient for the price (otherwise I wouldn’t have just blown $200 in points on a set). They’ll hold up well for most use. Most of the standard sizes will be easy to get warranty replacement on it’s only the weird stuff like the old specialty impact set which I believe is discontinued that you may have issues getting replacements for, but then again they were so cheap when they were getting rid of them I’m not sure it matters.

It’s not uncommon to see miss stamping of stuff coming out of the same factory though. I’ve run into other brands like that.

Nice. I watched some reviews. People seem to favor the Dewalt one the most out of all these cordless fans.

I have not heard of Halford sockets before this. UK huh? That's interesting. How the heck did a Halford get mixed into the set. It's not likely that someone had a laser engraver & swapped it in but who knows. That 1/2" deep set I purchased on ebay. Was new & sealed but that don't mean anything as the "seal" was just zip ties.

As you said they should hold up fine for my use. The only time I have ever broke an impact socket was from my Matco lugnut socket set but they are thin wall marketed for use with aftermarket wheels. That was when I worked at a shop. Of course my Matco dealer replaced the 19mm no questions asked & I never did break another one.

Yep, with points, that's I how I got most of the sets. Paid about $7 for both the 3/8" shallow & deep sets and not much more for the 1/2" shallow set. Felt like I stole them from Sears. No wonder they're struggling to stay in business.

Brass hammers, screwdrivers and 1/4” SAE small service set for my machine tool box. Fresh off the white candy truck.

“Snap on ratchet” for $20 was really a QJR217C, threw it on the torque checker at work and it’s well within spec. Into service it goes.

Proto spud ratchet, more for aligning holes than a ratchet :)

Most of the craftsman stuff I’ve purchased recently isn’t because I necessarily think it’s better, or great, or for the brand it’s merely cheap through the points. I doubt prices will ever be as low going forward as you can get some of the stuff for. I don’t want to look back and say “well I should have purchased...” then to have to shell out more for even a Harbor Freight version.

What’s the torque range on that qjr217?

Another guy has a wrench that says “qjr2117” and “series b” (in different places) on the ratchet and it goes 5 to 200. I’m really envying it because it covers the range I need for doing injector work better than my gearwrench does.
I’m trying to track one down and my ebay searches have been fruitless.
I’m trying to find people thay know anything about them.

Yep, I hear ya. I used to love shopping at Sears for Craftsman stuff. Would go every weekend just to look even if I didn't need anything. Then when they started carrying offshore made products & started dying out I stopped going. Like you all the recent Craftsman stuff I bought only cause they were cheap. These days I won't buy anything from them if it's just a good deal, it has to be a really good deal. Lost interest in the Craftsman name a long time ago & sadly I don't think that will ever change. I have absolutely no interest in any of the SB&D Craftsman stuff.

Your avatar brought back memories. My buddy bought a Metrinch set from Sears in the late 90s/early 2000s. We put that set to good use. Never actually got to try it on rounded nuts though. I do remember the sockets getting stuck on nuts sometimes. As a matter of fact that Sears store just closed it's doors last month.
