Got a couple arrivals from Amazon Renewed

What exactly are Amazon Renewed items? As in what kind of condition are they in, etc? I'm familiar with Amazon Warehouse items & have had pretty good luck buying them but I've never bought any Amazon Renewed items yet. Like some items I don't understand what they could "renew".

I gave these a try yesterday, and they're good. Well worth the $16.00 I paid and the free magnetic parts holder I got along with it. I will be buying the 1/2" drive next.

Wanted a cordless rotary tool for a while, done. Have a project coming up and I don't want to run a mile of extension cords. Done with that! And needed a new heat gun. Wanted one that was on the low heat side so this twenty something home cheapo purchase fit the bill.

New arrival: Old Screw Bumper Lift

New member to the forum... Just picked up an old Ajax Bumper Lift for $24 at a farm auction in Middletown, Maryland. Works perfectly, has a grease fitting for the handle shaft, and metal wheels (that just needed a hit of PB Blaster to roll freely). May restore it or leave a survivor as is. Tag says Model 75 Series A, 3000 Lbs., and made in Racine, WI. Suits me to lift a zero turn mower for blade sharpening and to lift a variety of old farm and garden equipment.

Welcome! I used that type of jack in the fifties, when cars had real bumpers. They were hydraulically operated, not manually like yours.

I recently got an SK socket set from Amazon that was "renewed," and as far as I could tell, the only difference between this one and a new one was that it wasn't in the original packaging. So, I think it may have been just an return that had been opened. Its the only Amazon renewed thing I've purchased.

I picked up this Snap-on FHND100 to add to my two THNFD72 ratchets. I also swapped the 1/4" anvil for a 3/8" one to turn the orange one into a FHCNFD72. I really like these swivel head ratchets.

IMG_20200213_171715_1.jpg IMG_20200213_171804.jpg

I also picked up this FHLLD72 extra long 3/8" ratchet to go with the two other shorter ones and an orange handle for the FHLD72 so they would all match. :bounce:

I did some lighting and outlets in the shop.area in my basement a few weeks ago and pulled out the Sears home wiring guide I've had since high school...and it wasn't new then. I doesn't even mention ground wires. Everything is black or white wire.

It even has a page specific to barns.

Sent from my garage.

I bought a 6" Kurt Anglock vise off of Facebook Marketplace the other day. I paid $400 for it. That may not seem like a good deal, but there was a Wells Index 747 mill bolted to it.

Or maybe it was the other way around.

I picked up some orders from the Hot Deals thread at Sears. Also went to Ollie's. I know the pliers set isn't a super great deal but I don't have those sizes in Craftsman and for USA why not. The Troy-Built stuff is German or at least claims to be.

How did you get it in and out of the rented trailer? Congrats, may the elbow grease be plentiful.

Yea Dentaltec, this is going to be a project. It runs great. It’s just dirty.

The previous owner had an enormous forklift to load it. To unload it, I winched it to the back of the trailer, then the trailer slowly tilted and I was able to slide it down the ramp. I cribbed under the trailer ramp with some wood. From there I picked it with my Ex-cel engine hoist and dropped it onto a pallet jack.

I had been looking for a mill for a long time. I missed out on a nice Bridgeport with boxes of tooling, 2 vises, and X power feed for $1,000. I offered the guy $1,400 and he said I was second in line if the first guy balked. Well, the first guy snapped up that one.

I was feeling really bummed and sorry for myself so I thought what the hell, I’ll try FB marketplace again. There was this Wells Index with the text, “First $300 takes it!” The ad was 26 minutes old. I texted the guy back, “I’ll have $400 to you within the hour!” He texted me his number and I had a rental trailer and the money to him in about an hour. He told me his phone was blowing up as I was talking to him.

The Kurt vise was buried under a pile of chips. It has the swivel base as well. The PO threw in a box of about 50 end mills, 5 NMTB30 tool holders, and a Jacobs chuck for an additional $50.

The FB, Craigslist, eBay gods we’re smiling upon me that day.

I see, thanks. I've had Amazon Warehouse items that were repackaged too which is why I was wondering.

Added another set of Channellocks to my go box. I was doing some work at the daughter's house when I realized I didn't have a pair of dykes with me. I solved that with a trip to Menard's this morning.

I ave missed out on super sweet deals before so I know what you were feeling, I have wanted a Bridgeport for years so hageling over a few hundred would not have happened especially with the boxes of extra tooling.

Enjoy your new project

I imagine that you already know that Wells Index is still in business and has any part you might need including IPLs and manuals.

Well I haven’t posted in here for a long time mainly cause I just haven’t needed a darn thing. But!, this proto deal was just too good to pass up. 6-26 in 3/8 attire with no skips.
