I see http://www.dramm.com/ makes ones too but they seem to be slight more but looks like they offer all the wear replacement items. I'm hoping all I have to do is replace the orings every year.

I bought the Dramm's about 4 years ago, haven't needed to replace any o-rings yet.

(Here in N. TX we don't get harsh winters though. But heat, oh the heat!)

Awesome to hear that. I'll give dramm a try if these aren't up to the task. I do drain the hoses plus fittings and bring them in during the winter.

Hello, which of your screwdrivers you like most and why? Thanks

Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

Wera. Feels the best in my hand. Easiest to grip, hold onto, spin without fatigue. Holds the fastener the best too. I prefer the laser cut tips.

I have several of all the other brands... I actively seek out Wera for my toolbox solutions. I probably have several hundred screwdrivers in my garage...

I agree with PelicanPines for full-size screwdrivers on Wera. I would also add PB Swiss as great screwdrivers. Oddly enough, I also like the old comfort grip Western Forge screwdrivers (sold as Husky, Craftsman Pro, etc.). They were made in the USA and had precision tips every bit as good as Wera (without the laser etching), they are difficult to find now though. Wiha is a distant fourth for me, they just never fit right in my hand or feel nearly as good.

For precision screwdrivers though, I much prefer Wiha. The tips are very very well made, the handles spin nicely, the overall shape is excellent. I would say a distant second place for me would be Witte's Wittronic line. They spin BY FAR the best of any I have tried but their tips aren't as accurate. Wera is in a close third, the tips are a bit better than Witte but the ergonomics are off.

It's getting harder to find anything Xcelite that I don't already have. But I came across these NOS ratchet crimpers that I just had to have:

Those hyper-step bits are made in China? And they want $340 for the 29 piece set? Yikes.

More than that. These are the newer Cobalt ones so when they get around to releasing the 29pc set its going to be around $400.

I knew the COO before buying and was dissapointed they weren't Taiwan but if they work as advertised i still think its worth having a few sizes.

Given the cost and COO though they should put a warranty on the set instead of 17/64 and up. I could never justify the cost with half of the most used broken bolt sizes having no lifetime replacement.

Someone who works in a lot of sheet metal/metal fabrication may feel differently though. They do drill very clean holes in thin steel.

This reminds me, does anyone have trouble getting MAC drill bits replaced under warranty?

Finally got the tools ordered from Epstein. Took USPS 9 days to get them to MI on 2 day shipping.

I left my small Mac pry bar under the hood of a honda, bought the 8" Wilde to replace it. Had to warranty out a craftsman flathead that took all the prying abuse without my small pry bar. I love the old striking hardhandle snap-ons but I don't like the new handles. The Wilde is pretty close to the old snap-on handle and usa

Also got the SK 45183 3/8 long, flex, round head ratchet and DT80 mech. Mostly for a decent ratchet at home and because I just wanted one. But I'll take it to work and see how she is in action.20200523_125632.jpg

Went a little crazy on the MAC and Matco trucks today since I haven't been on them before.

Klein VDV001-833 - Finishing out the basement and figured I’d get a data kit. Purchased from ACME for $269. I guess it isn’t a terribly expensive set but I thought the tools may have better fit the box. Maybe a drop in foam insert with spaces for the tools. I guess Festool and Woodpeckers has left me expecting more of other tool manufactures. I’d of gladly paid $50 more for a foam insert and well designed kit. It will be bearable for the two data runs I need to make. If I was using it daily I’d custom cut a foam insert for it.

Nothing spectacular, but I got one of these on Wednesday:

Danco 10909.jpg

It's a multi size faucet aerator wrench. We have a ton of cache style faucet aerators at work and we do a monthly PM on them. Part of the PM is to clean the screens or replace the aerator. Most of the cache aerators get caked up with deposits and the normal plastic cache keys can't get through the crud, so the teeth on the aerator and the keys get rounded off and you're beat for your treat. The Danco tool is steel and works every time. Can't go wrong for 9 bucks and it has a bottle opener, too!

Decided to add a couple of Snap-on Techangle Torque Wrenches to my 1/2” & 3/8 clicker wrenches. Only went for the 1/4” but wound up with a 3/8 as well. c418dca80b633ad268c28c8c3a1c184e.jpg328f6706842179a6976ffde32d124dd6.jpg35d8c0345dc54a50906f178e5cce8279.jpg
$ was about 50% of retail. Mint condition.

Now time for a morning ride: 4aac0ee573b7d59557535c5e13d9d69c.jpg

Ratchet-mania continues, though there's nothing else screaming at me at this point (thank God): Tekton 3/8" chrome pear head:

With it's Snap On and Icon brothers (second from left):

I also ordered a set of Tekton 3/8" extensions:

My first impressions are I like the ratchet, I love the extensions - the knurling is really nice on them.

Without having used it yet, I'm a little worried that the top of the handle is a bit sharp - wish they'd rounded it more like Snap On does. I do like the additional meat in the handle of the Snap Ons as well, though I only notice it a little bit vs. the Icon in use. If you combined the rounded design elements of the Icon and Tekton together they'd both be great - lol. The mechanism feels pretty since - fairly silky and low back-drag.

Given the Tekton is $5 less than the Icon with a coupon, it's a pretty compelling value - will see how things are once I've used it more.
