I had some new additions arrive over the weekend. A couple Vessel drivers, an impact and a stubby along with a micro torx discussed in another thread.

I guess this is my most recent tool purchase. I finally got sick of trimming the bushes by hand each month.

I went to an auction this past weekend. The guy was a life-long machinist, and had a very nice shop. Most things went pretty cheap. Here is a partial of what I got.

View media item 107847
The reduced shank drill bits (1/2" - 1 1/16) are mostly Chicago-Latrobe. The MT2 bit set are all Cleveland. This only shows about 1/4 of the end mills. Most of the milling cutters are USA made. The wood box contains Morse Taper Reamers, with some hand and chucking reamers next to them.

I shelled out $90 for everything here + about 80 more end mills I need to dip seal. I also picked up about 400 pounds of 12L14 and 1018CR steel rounds, from 1/2" to 2" diameter for another $20.

I wish I had had more money with me and more room in my shop. There were lots of really good deals.

A 5pc hammer set. I have lost or broken all of my hammers except claw hammers. Found this set at TSC in their Ultimate Workshop event for $24.99.

Chinese wiha precision bits. Some sort of partnership with xiaomi.

Aluminium case that is spring loaded or something similar. Magnet tray. And bits are magnetic. The driver is aluminium and smoothly spins on the top. Very nice quality. Bits are 5/32 . driver is a bit longer than I am used to. But may come in handy. Cost was about 25$ or so. Where to find screwdrivers like this (transparent handle, and "straight", without "bubble" before the end?

Brownells sells some like that. Popular around Christmas, so may be out of stock of the full sets. Great drivers for sure. Made for gunsmiths, but work on anything

Not actually a new tool yet but I got 2 new Snap On orange hard handles to make big brothers of my mini locking bit holder. I got 2 but holders on the way. I’ll probably start a new thread when done and what to buy.

Got these in today!

Bought the funnel a little too late since I just flushed the coolant in my truck but at $9 it was hard to pass. The pliers I got for $45 and they are niceee. They are Chrome Molly construction and the quality seems pretty good. The tray is sleek too. From the pictures and description, I think these are the same as the Carlyle brand ones.

I was having trouble loosening wheel nuts on my cars this fall......a product of age, I guess. A visit to Princess Auto revealed this 30" black nutbuster.

I haven't been buying many tools lately. I don't really need to. But these were on my wish list for awhile and NAPA has them right now for fifty bucks. I've never used flex ratcheting wrenches but I played around a bit on a chainsaw I'm working on and I'm thinking I'll like them.

Bought a couple new vacuums hoover hush tone 15+ and the hoover portapower.

The hush tone is two speed and has a cleaning wand with two attachments. The portapower came with a full line of attachments. The hush tone will be mainly for inside the house. The portapower will be for furniture , cars and boat. The portapower attachments are made from abs plastic and the upholstery tool was not molded correctly needed to use a drill with dremel bit to grind out the hole. The hush tone is 10 amps true rating I am told. And the portapower is 7.4 amps. I did buy the paper N type bags for the portapower with the adaptor for slightly better filtration. Perfect for people who have stairs with carpet.

Both are currently assembled in USA closest we can get these days it seems. the black portapower sold a few years back was 100% China and some others were mexico. It seems tariffs brought this back.

The portapower is currently 100$
The hush tone is $250IMG_MJL_%E2%93%82%EF%B8%8F-100th-%F0%9F%92%AF_20201112_114439.jpegIMG_MJL_%E2%93%82%EF%B8%8F-100th-%F0%9F%92%AF_20201112_114525.jpegIMG_MJL_%E2%93%82%EF%B8%8F-100th-%F0%9F%92%AF_20201112_114700.jpeg

I absolutely love this set. I could sit and mess with it all day. It feels great in the hand. So far, I've really enjoyed working on knives and electronics with it.

I’m a sucker for a good deal. With that said I’ve recently purchased a load of different tools from Home Depot, Lowe’s, offer up, eBay and craigslist. I don’t have any pics but it has upped my tool arsenal substantially.

It seems like every time the UPS guy drives by my house I post something new. I have a few tire levers but none are the spoon style that works better on dirt bike tires. Have 6 so there should be no rebite, get it in one series of pulls. Also got tim savers for colored rims and a tire tamer to help pry up the tire on narrow front tires.
IMG_6711.jpgIMG_6712.jpg

I also got a couple locking bit holders for the custom screwdrivers I’m making.

So the wife tells me this morning that the very expensive Dyson vacuum cleaner is broken. She wants to take it to the repair place immediately. I asked her to hold her horses and let me take a look at it. She very reluctantly says okay.

no let me start this by saying I hate working on vacuum cleaners. There's something about them that I just don't want anything to do with but I think this is kind of like taking my Jaguar to the shop it's going to be expensive if I take it to a repair place.

So once I start taking the roller head apart and cleaning out the copious amounts of hair that she's never cleaned out of it in 15 years I realized that the roller mechanism probably is bound up by hair. I also asked the YouTube to get me a video on this and boom we're up and taking things apart.

Now, as I start to take things apart I realize it's a mixture of Philips 0 and torx 6-10. I have the Phillips but I didn't have the torque small enough so I had to shoot out and find something.

I went to Ace and they had this torx set that went from 6 to 15. Perfect for what I need because I have the larger size torx needed some precision size. The tools seem well made rotating handle and clearly marked.

The case is a POS but what are you going to do. Naturally it has nothing to do with Black Friday so there was no discount, $25 and I got it immediately so I could get back to the house and put the Dyson back together.

Oops, how did the dog get in there?
