Not too long ago I posted about getting the Carlyle crimper/stripper Snappy clones. Decided to get the Carlyle stripper/pliers too. Again, one for my electrical hand tool box & one to keep at home.

They're on sale this month ($32), 1st one I got with AAA 10% discount & second one with $5 rewards.

Got another bigger Engineer pliers. I think I'm good on screw removal pliers now (I think :)).

Got me one of those magnetic wristband thingies. Always though these were gimmicky but for $10 decided to try one. This is the second one I ordered. First one I didn't like, Amazon said to keep it & they refunded me, gave that one to a buddy.

I must say it has proven useful for me already like when up on a ladder. I'm not actually planning to hold tools with it, was just testing how strong the magnets are in this pic. Also has 2 little pockets for nonmagnetic stuff.

I haven't had the chance to see how well the debur bits hold up. I did try out the countersink or chamfer bit on some cast iron, it seemed to do okay.

That countersink/chamfering bit is really handy. I use that one by far the most.

Me: “i’m looking for screws and glue”
Salesperson: “festool has a new vacuum”
Me: “does it come with screws and glue?”
Salesperson: “sure”
Me: “shut up and take my money”

The vacuum did not, it turns out, come with free screws and glue. But, it’s small, quiet, turns on automatically when I use the miter saw, has excellent dust collection, and I couldn’t be happier. I would have been served just as well with a craftsman shop vac and a smart switch, but, I was being a sucker. No regrets.

I wanted/needed a larger Cobra than what I had. There were only 2 sizes bigger so I figured I'd just get the 22". Well the damn thing is too big for me. Got it on sale so it wasn't worth returning. Eventually I got the 16". Been meaning to try & sell the 22" since I'll probably never use it again. But then again, like you said, this is GJ..... ;)

Good to know, maybe I will hold off.

Maybe you just need to find some project involving 2 inch plus pipe :)

The 16 inch is plenty big for 3 inch pipe which we use a lot at work.

I've grown tired of doing brakes/etc. without something like these, and getting ready to do a bunch of suspension stuff on my Mini that will also need them:

I have this set and I was looking at them earlier today - is it me, or are the BARE and INSUL crimping markers reversed on the long nose strippers?

I just went & looked at mine. You're right, good eye, it is reversed, on both of mine. Is yours like that too? Guess I'll have to sand off them markings.

No matter to me though. I'm not a fan of using crimpers that are below the pivot because of the lack of leverage. Same goes for the strippers, I don't like them below the pivot either. That's why I decided to get both. But for the strippers being below the pivot it's not that big of a deal to me, just won't fit into tighter spaces when needed.

That happened to me once, well for something large/expensive. Went to MSC to pick up a small order. I ended up coming home with a 7x12 bandsaw. I was so excited that when I got home I had no idea how I was going to unload it from the truck. Called some buddies & bought beer, they took care of it faster than I could drink a beer & I didn't even have to lift a finger. :D

Hi darkzero,

Do you have a manufacturer and its model # for the wristband?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi darkzero,

This is the one pictured & the one I decided to keep.

This is the one I didn't like. Basically the same except the velco flap was much longer. Since it's longer this one would probably be better if wearing over a jacket sleeve or if you got Popeye arms. It fit me fine if up higher on the arm like in my picture but was too long for me at the wrist. Although I don't plan to wear it right at my wrist I rather have that option than the extra length.

And this is another one I considered, similar to the one I got except it has 4 magnets per strip where as the ones above have 3 magnets per strip. But because it has more magnets it's wider.

Got me some mini keychain size tape measures. Mainly cause they read metric also. I needed a tape measure with metric on it but didn't want a full size one. Which by the way I never realized that they aren't that common & cost much more. The 10ft ones even have a LED on them. Though I would have rather they not have the LED so they would be slimmer. These mini Milwaukees are cheap & will be perfect for my needs but I got carried away, bought more than I needed. :)

6ft one is $4 in store at HD. 10ft one with LED is $8, also from HD but not in store. But free shipping to home (or store) & was delivered in only one day.

I have the same one. I bought it when I was rewiring my garage. I've been quite pleased with it.

Likewise. I'm adding circuits/circuit breakers with more to come so I thought I should be more precise in torquing the conductors than just by feel. I went back and checked my previous work, was surprised how accurate some where, and also by some that weren't!

Very nice! I added a dust deputy (dust cyclone) in line for my shop vac dust collection, and now the inside of my vac and filters are pretty much spotless after use. I would imagine that the dust deputy would pay for itself after not tool long, and help ensure the best possible performance of the vac due to the filters staying cleaner for much longer.

If you can plumb the hoses to be as short and straight as possible, that will help with performance as well.

For those who want an SK version, it's on sale right now at a pretty good discount as part of their monthly 'Steals & Deals'.

https://sktools.com/shop/1-4-drive-2-36-in-lbs-adjustable-torque-screwdriver.html

Comes with a calibration certificate and all that jazz. Just got mine last week - seems pretty nice and easy to use.

Tiny Starrett combination square with a metric blade. My credit card bill has been paid for the month so I don't remember what it cost. I'm sure it was reasonable. :^)

Nice! I bought an Epiq68 last year to replace my box I had for 25 years that I bought used, discussing a matching hutch with my dealer.
You'll love that bedliner top.

New welder as a little treat yourself excursion. Also grabbed a 33# spool of .035 wire and had a fresh #5 tank of C25.

Ran some beads tn. Very impressed. I need to find some 1/2+ coupons and really dial her up...not worth burning up any of the good plate I have now.

Also picked up Hobart's folding table to leave in the warm garage, where I have the Ironman. Not really ideal to go out in the 10 degree shop and weld for fun...necessity sure, but not fun.

The Hobart table is considerably nicer (and heavier) than Horrible Freight's. 1/8" top and stout legs. I ended up getting it for $1 more than HF at Farm & Fleet when you count the "blain buck" at face value ($10).

Dewalt DWE402 grinder came in today. I finally have 2 grinders lol
Best move to have 2 or more grinders. I hate switching from a cutoff wheel to flap disc or wire wheel. Wastes too much time and sometimes you break cutoff disc's if you grab them to loosen and not use the tool to do it.
