After losing a f***ing socket adapter into the engine bay abyss the other week, I decided to treat myself to some ullman lighted mirrors. Happy with the decision!ac7c2f537b34d7b3077434f6bb6d7e06.jpg

Finally convinced myself to buy a set of cheap ER-40 collets. I don't use a collet chuck for workholding much so it was never high on my list to buy.

23 pc set & the 1 empty slot was perfect so now I have a spot to put my oversized collet (1-1/8"). And now I can save my good collets for toolholding only.

I use my ER32 set for everything. The ER collets grab the tools along the entire shank within the collet, not just at the tip. I have an R8 chuck that stays in the quill all the time, and I prefer the Toolmex R8 collet chuck over all others. It appears to be available only at eBay these days. It has a 34mm flat that makes changing collets easy (a 34mm wrench rests easily on your shoulder while you manipulate the collet wrench).

Forget about the spanner wrench that comes with the Toolmex, and grab Maritool's collet wrench.

In addition, I picked up square and hex blocks with ER collet chucks in them (forget where), for holding tools or workpieces in your vise. The hex block makes it easy to machine 3 sides of a round object and have them perfectly indexed.

Thanks for posting and sharing this! :rocker:......just ordered the OEM Precision screwdriver set! (#22560)

EDIT: Also ordered the matching STAR TORX OEM Precision set as well! (#22559)

Getting ready for my eventual purchase of a 3D Printer. Some tools I know I will use.

1. Acupuncture Needles (to clear the nozzle)
2. Small OEM screwdrivers
3. 7mm Wrench for nozzle
4. Eklind T handle hex keys
5. Dual scraper... Metal and Plastic (covers not shown)

My printer will be in my office... no where NEAR my garage... so reason to buy more tools.

picked up this Proto 5452F at the Carlisle show this weekend, $20. Don't need another 1/2 inch ratchet but this thing was sweet, less backdrag than my Koken Zeal guys if you can believe that, but still 72 teeth. I think the movement is from Facom? very smooth ratchet....

Yes it is from Facom. Check out their palm control ratchets. Same mech.

Did you score it from a used tool dealer?

I have several of those Protos and a few Facom. I actually prefer the Proto because of the metal handle (Facom has a rubber handle).

Picked up a small Witte / Matco screw driver for my pocket, stubby JIS cross point for interior work on Toyotas, and a Matco e10 wrench for Deutz diesel fan pulleys. 8d7e73183a3071ac666a7a6d2949d416.jpg

I bought a Blackhawk socket set that came with a ratchet. The add showed the old round head ratchet design I was used to but what showed up was something very near to what he posted. I Googled around and what I found looked like facom for sure. It's a great ratchet!

Toyota Tacoma.....not built for everyone.

I also own a 2008 Toyota Tacoma that I've purchased brand new, driven off the dealership lot back in April of 2008.

Other than just replacing the battery, routine change of spark plugs, engine filter and cabin filter, basic oil changes, etc....Toyota Tacoma's...like'em or hate'em....one of the very best vehicles to buy for your money IMHO.

Does not have that amount of mileage as Ezriderga's does but basically is half that amount at.........259,0000 miles and still going strong...Thank GOD!

I finally found a local cornwell dealer and these were on order since the last flyer deal, I liked the prybars so much I picked up an extra set as an early father's day present. Much larger than they look in the flyer!019cd57577e1b7a2857158217e4c52b2.jpg07c80ec1741784d6e5dc0dcd65e0aea5.jpg

Picked up this U-Line 3" Tape Gun (#H-596). I like that the blades are replaceable, since that's the reason I tossed my old 2" dispenser.

So as expected I ordered a #2 PH hard handle. Have I happened to mention how much I like their hard handles? :D The Fiskars are because I have 2 pair of scissors in the shop and they both ****! The NWS circlip pliers? Holy hell are they nice! Everything about them says solid, if they're not as nice as my Orbis circlip pliers it's not a big difference.

I've been a jeep guy for a long time. After seeing a dozen customers with 300k+ on their 2.4/2.7/3.4/4.0 Tacomas I was convinced.

I think I'm about 170k on mine. Between it and my 7.3 F350 (150k) I figure I'll never need to buy another pickup.

The only other engine I've seen multiple times with such ridiculous reliability is the GM LS 5.3. Tons of neglected, beat down work truck still going at 300k. Tons of Mopar 3.7/4.7/5.7 and Ford 4.0/4.6/5.4 catastrophically explode before 200k... almost all due to neglect.

Sorry, back on topic.

Very nice truck! So I noticed your gas flap is not right at the edge of the bed like others I have seen. Is that considered a regular bed? Do they still make a long bed? Thanks for sharing

Believe it or not, that is considered a long/regular bed although not very common as with the shorter beds. :3gears:

Diablo has an excellent reputation for good hardware. Are they made in Italy?

I think Diablo is missing an opportunity. I worked at HD for just over a year. I can't recall ever seeing where they are made, on the packaging or blades themselves. I will have to look at the blades I've got at home.

I just assumed they were made in China with everything else. They make good blades and maybe different blades are made in different places, I don't know. But Diablo shows online made at their facility in Italy. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm willing to bet the Milwaukee blades are China or Taiwan, so I find that an interesting comparison/difference between the brands.

I got these screwdrivers today. $18 shipped off eBay. I will put them in the house toolbox of general tools. Keeps me from having to run out to the garage or shed to fetch a screwdriver. The el-cheapo HF $4 set had eventually all walked off.

I never had/used Felo tools before. These are my first German tools, matter of fact.

Picked this up from Amazon for brake jobs. Will be using it this weekend.

Sent from my iPhone using The Garage Journal mobile app

Oh wow, never knew those existed. I've always use ghetto methods, c-clamp, channellocks, pry bar in between the pad & rotor, etc.

Please let us know how well it works (Amazon reviews seem to be good). I'm interested in getting one if it works well. My Tacoma has 4 pot calipers & this would make brake jobs quicker/easier if it'll work.
