Just received the last of the three ratchets I ordered from SO. This is my first experience with them. Needless to say after a months wait on back order I’m a little bummed! The hard handle is crooked…

Anyone ever see this before? I can’t believe they even sent it out with such an obvious flaw.

Yes, Snap On. I know people don't want to pay the asking price, but fit and finish is second to none for everything Snap On that I own. Their chrome is perfect. Can't say the same for other companies/manufactures. Leave it at that.

@ kelpaso1; I agree. I'm not a MAC guy, so I don't know if those are legit, recently made or old stock, but they indeed look terrible. I would of been very disappointed and promptly return them. With Ohio being stamped into the wrench, I'm assuming they are a USA made version, but they look more like something made in India that costs $5 on Amazon. If you covered up the brand name, I would never guess those are MAC.

Did some shopping at Amazon
Since there's no printed insert or other identifying numbers to tell us what the items in the red case are, would you care to enlighten us?

I'd hazard a guess that they are installation tools of some kind, but I couldn't guess what they would be used on.

They're for pulling axle bearings.

Imagine removing a shaft from a solid housing. The shaft rides on a bearing, which is pressed onto the shaft. The outer race of the bearing is typically left behind inside the housing. The flat area is the pulling part, the threaded portion connects to a slide hammer. Slide the flat portion past the race in the folded position, then allow it to open fully as shown in the case so it is now larger than race, and hammer it out. Using collets for things of that size are usually unreasonable.

Update on my ratchet, snap on won't replace it as it "doesn't impact the functionality of the tool"

Fair enough I guess, as it technically doesn't. Still a little bit put off by that response though. I'll push a bit more and if I have no luck I'll just try and fix it myself.

After voicing a bit of disappointment in my response to them, Snap On is making it right and sending me a label to return the ratchet, after which they will send out a new one.

I'm happy with the resolution, despite it taking more than one try. Hopefully the new one will show up aligned!

That *****, but it’s a really easy fix. Boil some water in a pot big enough to soak the handle in for 2 or 3 minutes, and the handle will pull right off without damage. Then just slide it back on correctly.

*Edit* Glad to see Snap-on is making it right!

Yeah it really is an easy fix, and I was fully prepared to just fix it myself. I was just quite surprised that they wouldn't take it back initially. The end user shouldn't have to fix a brand new tool, especially at snap on prices.

I look forward to putting the replacement to good use!

Stopped in a garage sale / estate sale over lunch today. Passed on bins of random sockets, cheap screwdrivers, and old 12v battery tools. Picked up a Proto 3/8” speed wrench that I probably don‘t need, but wanted, leaving two others behind. Got a 3/8” SnapOn extension, a Mac 1/2” impact extension, and a Cornwell 1/2” impact extension, and a random wobble socket.

$7 for all seemed like a good deal to me.

I was tempted by a BluePoint flaring tool, but it was only the clamp, no dies.

The guy must have been doing paint and body work at some point. Had a few long boards and a half dozen old spray guns.

My Snap On guy had a 3-row socket tray on the truck a few days ago, so I snagged it while I was there. I was wanting to better organize my 3/8" Snap On impact sockets (deep, mid-length and shallow). It looks so much better to get them all onto the same tray.
Also grabbed the black & green pick the rail is sitting on.

Picked up a few Hansen socket trays, no pics, for the box in the car trailer. Also grabbed a stainless steel wire brush for use with the spool gun.

I have some old school screwdrivers made by Beta Italy that have the exact same details. I’d venture those are made by Beta tools.

I do not know about that. Both are Italian brands with tools manufactured in Italy (or they were manufactured there) so it could be possible.

Just a couple of things from today's reopening of the Just Sell It automotive swap meet. It was a beautiful day if you got out there early, like 0600 early. Really felt great to be able to walk around the aisles and see some familiar faces. Good crowd on hand, decent number of sellers. Although, I think the new space fee of $50 might have affected some of the seller's asking prices on their stuff. :wtf:
I got more exercise than bargains this time around. I just couldn't pass up an old school Snap on S9094B seal puller for a $1 and a new Duck Wear wide mouth tool bag for $4.

Update: Come to find out, Snapon.com calls my seal puller a $62 cotter pin puller

Some new measuring tools. The calipers have a 4th display option to only show 32nds. This will be handing for woodworking and measuring fasteners. Too often I end up wanting something that is about 11/32 and the caliper reads 45/128 and I don't really care about that extra 1/128. It has full decimal, metric, and 1/128 modes also.

The micrometer I got off a Amazon warehouse deal for about half price.

Snap on ATECH3FR300B and SLF80A.
Both were purchased from the Snap On truck at a reasonable discount in exchange for paying cash.

Picked this stuff up at the KoonTrucking YouTube meet up. Not pictured is a Mac Toyota Oil Filter wrench. Fun times at the meet up.
That's a nice haul. Did you get the knife with the bottle opener? Kinda wanted that bundle but my Mac guy said the knife wasn't that great.

I've owned that Pro Tech Toolkit for about 5 years, and it's been fantastic - it's the only kit I've ever needed for electronics work. I did manage to bend one of the slotted tip bits, and they sent me out a replacement under the lifetime warranty very quickly. Can't recommend this kit enough.

Very cool! I wanted to go this year but circumstances wouldn't permit, hopefully next year I can make the trip.
