Was at Lowe's picking up a paint roller and a box of 39 gal yeah bags. Perused the tool aisle and found a Kobalt 1/2" clicker store 250 ft lb torque wrench that was missing there package and marked down to $40. Snapped it up as a birthday present for my son. He doesn't have one that big yet.

These little fellas showed up during the week. A 4" Superjustable and a set of Channellock 424's. The 424's have proven remarkably useful already. The Superjustable, well... I was looking at the 4" adjustable wrench thread and just wanted one. It bites well and there's no slop so it does turn fasteners well, just need to find the right job for it.

Warranty replacement tools from Craftsman. Still waiting on a ratchet which they said was back ordered but they would get it too me as soon as possible. I cracked the 15mm on a GMC Sierra drain plug on Monday I think it was and I requested the replacements then. The screwdriver the tip is messed up on and then the pick is broken off a little bit. they said they didn’t offer individual picks and since it was covered under warranty they would make it right and send me a whole set.

Then down below is some tools I got from member Yankee Wrencher for my collection. 7B557038-5E31-46E5-9FBC-DAFB4FE6707B.jpeg5F50A9D9-5CE0-4EB8-9505-B11B53E63FF2.jpeg I always thought the orange handle Craftsman pry bars were cool so I’m glad to finally have a set. The sockets are a 13/16 spark plug socket Craftsman USA. And a Craftsman USA 11/16 universal joint socket. The filter wrench didn’t have a name I could see but will still look good in the collection and the extension is a Husky USA that is great.

I've thrown away so many open cans of chf11. I don't do it often enough for it to stay fresh

I'll go through it pretty quick. I have 2 vehicles that use it, one is BMW SLS suspension. The other, Chrysler power steering.

Just this afternoon I drained (into waste bucket) 1/2 liter of old brake fluid I found at the back of a shelf.

Probably my favorite handle style from the older Craftsman stuff. I have the middle pry-bar, which I bought new many moons ago when it was still available on the store shelves. Good stuff!
Yes I agree the handles are great. I have the red handle striking cap ones already so these are a good addition and all made in USA too which is awesome.

I have those orange handle pry bars for a long time now, and have zero complaints. They don't get a lot of use, but when I need them they're up to the task, and perform very well. I had a cheaper Chinese pry bar which ended up in the garbage after a few uses.

I’m curious is the bent one stock? Or has it been modified my red handle striking cap ones aren’t like that. And glad to hear you like them. I do too I love the acetate Craftsman handles and now everyone will know they are mine lol. I’ve never had good luck with cheap pry bars. I had one of those long handle ones from Harbor Freight and the handle snapped the bar flung across the shop. Luckily it hit the wall and not anything else.

The bent one came that way off of the store shelf.

Mayhew offers something similar that can be handy at times.

Craftsman 17mm deep impact socket. 1/2 drive. Picked this up mainly for VW lug nuts because at work we have had a ton of VW come in and I mean a ton just like Toyota it seems every other one is one of those two.

My coworkers are like just use an 11/16 but I tell them I’m one to have the right tool for the job the 11/16 is too big by a little bit. Just enough to where I’m not comfortable using it especially with an impact. I’m the only one in the shop with metric impact sockets the rest of the guys use the SAE equivalent but not every size has one that’s exact. I chose to pay the extra $1 for the Craftsman since they have been good to me about warranty. This time when I checked out they asked for my phone number so if it breaks they can look it up and not have to worry about the receipt.

The Kobalt selection is getting slim again with many items on sale wonder if they are going to get rid of it? I hope not they have some nice stuff.

Epstein Day: 21-24mm and 6mm wrenches. 6&7mm deep sockets. My Dad: a spare D44 Columbian vice. That’s a W! Wrenches finished off the metric combo drawer…

Picked up a set of the Icon metric stubby reversible ratcheting wrenches on OfferUp.

They seem decent enough, I'm unsure if they're made by Kabo, Hi-Five, or Infar, but strongly suspect it's one of those.

They are a bit thinner around the ratcheting end than the Husky. (Same as Paramount and Blackhawk)

Got my Knipex Twin Grip today (seeing them in person makes me think even more that they should have named them Piranha).
20210712_151241.jpg

Speaking of grips, got another/spare ReGrip cause I caught a price drop on them. I love these things, have em on my jack handles & the handle for my arbor press.

Was in the area so I stopped by the Rockler store. I've seen their stuff online but had no idea they had stores. I'm not a wood guy but it made me feel like becoming one walking through that store! Picked up a set of Bench Cookies & a silicone Glue Keeper.

I've already got some of these machine covers in different sizes but Amazon Warehouse had em again so I picked up 2 more. Almost all of mine I got through Amazon Warehouse, damaged clamshell but no damage to the cover.

Thing's I've picked up over the last few weeks.

I've been on the fence about Toolbox Widgets for a while. They were pricey for what they seemed, but I value modular organization. This is the only thing that fit what I was looking for. For the price, the mold injected pieces are poor quality and they appear to have been made as cheaply as possible. Lots of imperfections that you could nit pick all day. Once they're in the box holding wrenches though, all those little gripes disappear as you can ooh and awe over the neatness of your drawer. Excellent idea, very low budget execution, but they function as intended. I bought them on promo and got a set for free; don't ever pay full price for these or you'll probably want to return them before you give them a chance. Lots of the imperfections are mostly non visible once installed. I am happy with the result, and the sales/promo make the price point acceptable.

Had a project that needed something to be aligned, and this air shim worked beautifully. Super handy thing.

i-vg3xkTS-L.jpg

Bought this for a stupid discount during Amazon prime day sales. One of the few brands that actually run a "black friday" type of discount. (Lots of brands like Gearwrench jack up the price a few weeks prior so the sale price is what it is most of the year). Does what it says, and is very compact. Charges lithium batteries too!

i-mCpzKs6-L.jpg

Flexible adapter for my SO ratcheting drivers. You seriously need to get all the various adapters, I use them all regularly and they are some of my most used tools.

i-PxSQhx3-L.jpg

This brand new set was heavily discounted. Can't pass up 50%+ off deals.

i-Ljw4p5C-L.jpg

Got another 1/2" drive torque wrench; dealer had this on a nice promo. The "click" isn't as satisfying as the Stahlwille splitbeam torque wrench, but this has a much wider torque range. I got tired of dealing with batteries just to torque wheels, so this was a quality of life purchase.

i-mMkdKhs-L.jpg

MTM hydro 40 degree nozzle. These little suckers are pricy, but the one time you save yourself from accidently bumping/scratching paint you'll be glad you spent the $40. Made in Italy and very nice quality.

i-X6xcPNv-L.jpg

One of my most satisfying purchases this year. These. Are. Awesome. Hands down some of the best scissors I've ever tried. They're called Dress Maker Shears - my gf who works in fashion told me the name is associated with how the handles are angled related to the blade. You can lay large swathes of cloth on a table, and the bottom of the shears lay flat against the table and allow you to slice through the fabric comfortably. These 8" versions are a steal for ~$20 on Amazon. I will be buying more sizes for sure.

i-MNWnhRx-L.jpg

New pressure washer. For $200, this is the best pressure washer you can buy right now. Quiet, and delivers about 2 gpm @ 1000PSI with a 4.0 orifice. Perfect for detailing/washing cars. The compactness is a huge plus in my 2 car garage.

i-hXhsGQ2-L.jpg

Like everyone else, my Knipex twin grips were delivered by KC Tool. The fit and finish is great! I hope more sizes and styles are released!

i-mhVXZCS-L.jpg

This is my second ECPN0032. I love this light. I tinker a lot on my 911, so traditional hood lights and large lights don't fit in the engine compartment.

i-nXNjMLG-L.jpg

My dealer sold out of these at the first stop when these were released. He finally got 50 more and only had 12 left when he got to us; we're his fourth stop on Monday.... If you saw these on a catalog, you would've give them much thought. In person, they are very nice quality and the holding power is very very strong. The pad itself is a nice material that doesn't feel like it's going to scratch anything; firm but soft/compliant pad is the only way I can describe it.

@sweet victory try a set of ARS tailoring shears if you like the dress maker shears you bought. They are the sharpest, cleaning cutting shears my wife or I have used and we now have 2 pairs. We liked them so much, we bought them as gifts for both of our Moms.

They also have an adjustable tension knob to dial in how they open / close with your hand.

Appreciate the recommendation @designer485 - I'll have to give them a look! I was making a wire harness and was testing out dense fabric braided loom. The Wiss titanium coated shears were a disaster - kept splaying and really struggled to cut the material. The Ghinger's cut through it effortlessly and left a very nice crisp edge.

@Outahere once you get into the realm of aerospace/defense oriented specialty tools, just add zero(s).

Picked up a Williams USA 3/8" deep metric socket set, 8-19mm. Got $10 back on them since Amazon screwed up the order, so I'm under $60 on these. Can't complain about that.

They also had a 20%-off deal on this Innova while I was getting the sockets. Hoping its decent as it seems to offer the basic functions I need (just DIY stuff).

How do you dispose of your mixed waste bucket?

Not sure if it's the same in Texas, but in CA, places like Oriely, Advanced Auto, etc. take my used fluids free of charge.
I know they take used oil, just wasn’t sure about brake fluid. I have about a gallon of old brake fluid from flushing brakes on a converted school bus. Thanks for the tip though!

IIRC they have never asked. They just pour it into their collection bucket and send you on your way.

I bought some luxury items for myself from napa's monthly flyer, rationalized it since it is my birthday month... Can't beat these prices if you're interested in these items. The interior creeper is fully adjustable.
