Back to new tools, I had a string of jobs that this torque wrench could have made a little more precise, fudged it a bit with a digital but with exceptable results, that job will be a long time coming before another hits my life now, lol.

^ Lube techs man, you have to see it with your own eyes to comprehend it. Lubie knows all about how the tool trucks are a scam, he's smarter than that, but still has none of the "just as good" tools you can buy everywhere.

If shops had the intelligence to simply throw the time waster oil changes to jiffy-lube and the like, the whole system would likely function a lot better. Borrowing should happen within a shop a couple times per year MAXIMUM between all employees, and only if the borrowers tool has failed in the line of duty AND they are capable of offering tools to be borrowed by others. Blake and his coworkers need to purchase their tools to make a living, with money they have earned. Management can take some cash out of their $100+/hour labor rate and make a trip to harbor freight to supply the lube rack with some charity. They can even deduct it as a business expense!

Nobody borrows **** from me. Because they don't have **** to lend me. So explain why I need to let goober use my tools to take 2+ hours doing a pad slap? While I do his job dumping oil for $4 pre-tax per LOF/rotate? They can do what I did and dump every penny extra they make back into tools. They can stay up late researching and reading SAE papers, and paying for training events. They can live at home and stop buying weed, stop financing cars, and start showing up on time.

I completely agree. Especially the last three sentences.

They hired him because of his education from UTI. He told the boss he had a toolbox and stuff but he doesn’t he has a little plastic one full of screwdrivers and some small sockets but nothing you need for stuff on a daily basis. He is the oil change and tire rotation guy if that helps explain things. He never got the toolbox you get when you graduate because of all the stuff. Today was payday he said he would be buying some stuff this weekend. But after he sent a car down the road with no oil in it I think Monday he will be given his walking papers considering he has messed stuff up everyday he has worked. He also backed a car into the computer stand today. We were a skeleton crew today only three of us and he went home ‘sick’ at 2 conveniently after the upset customer called saying their car had stopped running and made a bad noise and they were stranded next to the road.
Uhhhhhhh . . . no.
I attended UTI, you receive a $1500 credit with SnapOn upon graduation, time to look through a catalog and an order form. Is it possible he JUST graduated and the tools haven't arrived yet? Absolutely, if this is the case and he just hasn't said so . . . he's a *******. Has he received a paycheck yet? If so and he hasn't bought himself a $20 Pittsburgh ratchet set? Once again, *******. If you are willing to spend some time mentoring him good on you, if people have tried to mentor him and he STILL hasn't a clue? *******. You can only do so much for someone else, they have to then show the willingness to put it to work for them. If they're not willing to put forth the effort, neither should you. Hopefully the kid wises up or your employer cuts dead weight. Either way yes, YOU should be the first one to use a new ratchet. LOL

I was in the automotive repair business for a while...Most of the techs I knew who went to UTI or wyotech where the biggest hacks and the ones who's mouths did all the talking. I am not saying there is anything wrong with those schools
There is something wrong with those schools just like many private for profit schools in the US. They take your money, quite a lot of it actually considering the focused aspect of the curriculum, and rubber stamp a certificate that is worth less than a roll of toilet paper. Not sure what happened to good old fashioned on the job training. You'll know pretty quick if the guy or gal has the mindset and desire to learn. For most careers thats where you cut your teeth anyway.

Imagine someone telling you they spent 20 grand on a technical school and they own no basic hand tools, cant drive into a bay, or change oil.

Well, since our local Cornwell dealer(s), district manager and regional manager are all pieces of ****, I finally ended up scoring these recently off eBay instead. (y)

Always liked these 30-tooth ratchets. Smooth as butter and built like a tank. Happy to finally add these to the stable.

FYI - The JRFB36A has apparently been discontinued, so if you have need and see one somewhere, scoop it up while you can.

So I might of bought an impact 🙂. A cordless impact. And new guy at work won’t be using it I know that for a fact. This is the one I wanted since I plan to build up my collection of Milwaukee stuff. My parents said they would buy me the Kobalt or they would give me the amount towards this one. I told them I’d be grateful for either one but they have bought me a lot of stuff so I insisted on buying this on my own. I paid $349 for it. But they did buy me the three year warranty for it for $55. I got it at the Home Depot which I’m not a big fan of but they had it. They had one and it was at the Home Depot in the ghetto lol. We called earlier but they said absolutely no holds. And we got 10% off from my moms military discount. I feel like I got a good deal.

No going back now.....I switched to Milwaukee stuff about 5 years ago. NEVER thought I would be using so much cordless stuff as I am now....not all are cordless, but a hell of a lot now.

I decided to treat myself to a new Milwaukee impact. I already have the high torque one and several other Milwaukee tools. I always wanted a M12 stubby but don't have any M12 batteries. Since I want to use this in tight spaces I bought the Astro nano sockets too. Got it all off Amazon for around $200.

That will definitely serve you well. I do find it almost comical that they put the spot on that for a belt clip loop, who is gonna hang that stout ******* off their belt/pants? I'm sure there are other instances that the clip would be handy though.

Not the same but I use the belt clip on my mid torque. The garage is full of tools and the hot rod so everything gets worked on in the driveway. Sometimes it’s easier to hang the impact on my belt so I can carry everything else in one trip.

Great choice, but did they buy you a 3 year warranty for it? If so, go back and get your money back, because Milwaukee power tools come with a 5 year warranty…

Yep I told them not to buy it. It’s the 3 year warranty. Does the Milwaukee one that it comes with cover accidental stuff? Because this one does.

I don’t see much benefit from coverage of “accidents” with an impact wrench of that size. If you’re a lineman and working at elevation, maybe… But in a shop environment, I wouldn’t pay for that. You could literally run that impact over with a car and it would be fine.

That’s the main reason they got it. They said if me or my coworkers drop it then it will be covered. I heard the batteries will break easily but the battery has a 3 year warranty already.

Every time I get a 20% off coupon from Zoro I try to increase my Knipex collection by 1. Added the extra long precision screwdriver set to get over the free shipping threshold.

nice. i got a 20% off hand tools category coupon recently and used it on pliers wrenches. even with 20% off, sometimes zoro isn't the cheapest place to buy stuff. for example, i got some knipex cobras, swedish pipe wrenches, 300mm PW, and longnose pliers from azde instead. but surprisingly, the smaller PWs were cheaper on zoro.

My buddy I work with has one and the battery clips do get loose and it wobbles around after shop use, jdtco has some bands that go around the battery and base of impact I've been trying to get him to get and try out but he says as long as they're staying on he's not gonna worry about it lol. I have all snappy stuff most I bought used so I can't comment about it but I like the tools he has that I've used, if I could do over and had cash on hand to buy what I wanted I'd probably go Milwaukee

Decided to buy some dedicated spark plug sockets rather than using my 6-pt deeps. Picked up these Craftsman (made in Taiwan) and was pleasantly surprised. The engraving is easy read and the chrome is nice.

I consider a tool box just as much of a tool as a wrench considering it is the home to organize all a persons tools. Picked up this SO KRA2007FPBO for $400 off of FB MarketPlace. I have been wanting to downsize from my 52” Top/Bottom Chest because I found it held way more unnecessary clutter than the actual tools I use to wrench on my cars. So I figure this will take up less space and was inexpensive even compared to the HF alternatives. I need to order a new key and would like to find some better drawer liner than came with it.ECEB7041-C1F1-4D26-A276-00C3524D69BD.jpeg

I dropped my favorite Gilmour red hose nozzle on the garage floor and ended up ordering a replacement on Amazon. After the new one arrived, I read the packaging I saw they had a lifetime warranty. I filled out a form of Gilmour warranty site and set them a picture of the one with the broken handle. Well... two months later I received my free replacement. The replacement nozzle is yellow which annoys me a bit but happy to have a spare. I like these for washing the car because there are not any exposed metal pieces that may scratch the car.

I was on Craigslist today and I found these Vise Grips. I have three of this model. I do not see a problem with another pair to keep them company. So, now I have four of this model and over 200 other real VG. The price was great.

New pencil sharpener for the garage. Now to find a good location to mount it.

Was at Walmart doing some back to school shopping with the lady since she is a teacher and had heard people here talking about the 4 pack of prybars for 13 bucks. They had those but they were made in India, located these two next to them for 9 and 8 bucks, then picked up 2 made in USA levels. Pretty sad Walmart seemed to have more made in USA tools than Lowe's and Home depot.

That's a great drawer layout for a small box. Try Eppco for drawer liners. Gotta cut it yourself, but it's quality. Similar to the OE snap on liner, but a little less stick (good IMO), but a little less cushion/squishiness.

Good to know. I've been looking for a good quality spray nozzle to replace my 'el cheapo one that leaks more than it sprays.
