Well now I know who makes the snap-on ones. I love the mini spreaders which I use for prying but I do break them often.
Ordered a set of 4... drat you...
Awesome! I didn't know Stanley would do that! Good to know...ThanksI had a Stanley ratchet that had a broken pawl. Called them for warranty and the model I had was discontinued. They offered me a Craftsman and I said I really didn’t want one of those. They then offered me a Proto and something else. As soon as I heard Proto, I said I’d love to have that.
Called on Tuesday, just delivered today. Easily a top notch warranty experience. Told me to take the broken one to a recycler.
Proto Professional 5249. This thing is smooth as warm butter.
Unless they've done something to improve it, that ratchet is horrible. I have a pair of them, and they both will switch directions spontaneously. Nice handle, but terrible mechanism IHMO. The chrome sockets they came with are great though.
I always wanted that set. Autozone never had them when I visited... today... because of you... it's in stock and awaits my curb side pickup... thanks.I was out killing time yesterday, happen to stop by AutoZone and found one of their 10mm socket sets.
I don't really need it, but at $20 it's cheaper than the Gearwrench set and the package said made in Taiwan. I suspect it's all made by Apex, but I don't like the newer made in China Duralast tools.
Anyway... I put them all on a rail with a few other spare 10mm's I've got rolling around...
The first 10 sockets are the Duralast set, the next 2 are Dewalt and the last 4 are Astro. So that makes 16 spare 10mm sockets.

Did your Ace not have any of the USA screwdrivers left? Mine still has tons. In fact I want one with that style handle and that short so I might have to pick one up. At least your Ace will warranty stuff though mine won’t.Had a good day. Snap on truck visit this morning. Picked up a 7/8 Flank Drive Plus wrench to replace the one in my set that grew legs several years ago. The Wright socket in the picture with that is a new one I bought at a flea market Sunday morning and thought I’d lost. Found it.
Also had purchased a green replacement cap for my old Snap on ratcheting screwdriver. Cap didn’t fit because the handle had shrunk (it was OLD),so my Snappy guy just gave me a new warranty. I kept the extra cap.
Next was a trip to ACE to warranty a Craftsman 1/4” ratchet and an old screwdriver, then to harbor freight to warranty a long 1/4” extension. Good day.
But storing Harbor Freight tools in a Snap-On box makes THEM magical!I heard that storing Snap On tools in a Harbor Freight box, voids the warranty..
My old man has that screwdriver with the full size handle and stubby flat head. Sometimes it’s the only tool that will work. I would love to add one to my box but have never seen one in person for sale.Had a good day. Snap on truck visit this morning. Love that color.
I have the knipex and they will cut anything. I have another pair from kobalt and they are horrible.Picked up a pair of 8" mini bolt cutters at work , plier's place is running out of room
You will like the Napa Carlyle line! They make some really quality stuff! There is a "show us your Carlyle tools" thread. It will give you lots of things for your tool wants listI wanted to get some Williams 1/4 SAE stuff to give it a try but NAPA ended up giving me a few extra bucks off on top of the 20% flash sale. Plus the NAPA is down the street so I didn't have to wait. Got a full 1/4 set (standard and deep) plus blades and a scraper. I added a Proto 6pt 11/32nd 3/8 drive socket, a Proto 6pt 9mm wrench, and some plier organizers from MSC and Amazon respectively. Pretty decent day.
This was the first one I have seen in a while. I used to have 2 that had larger blades, somewhere in the 3/8"-1/2" range, that I used for Holley carb float adjustments. They were great for that, but I don't know where they disappeared to so I've been looking for another. Hope I find one of the bigger blades in the future. My old man has that screwdriver with the full size handle and stubby flat head. Sometimes it’s the only tool that will work. I’ve got more screwdrivers than I know what to do with, but that power blue is just beautiful. I might have to make room in the box for some more screwdrivers…
Who makes the screw thread gauge?
