I really need these and just haven’t bit the bullet yet. Let me know how they work please.
I used them to put back in one of the stripped bolts as a test and they work. I really liked using the "Turbo Sockets" (search on amazon) they have fractional sizes for each, so they will have 7.0mm , 7.2, 7.4, 7.6, 7.8, etc... so as the head gets smaller, you still have options before going all the way down to the next size. Gearwrench has that also, just not as granular.

Found that a newer Audi Q7 I was working on required a specialty socket to remove the front 6 piston caliper from the bracket. Thought I had every inverted socket set known to man but leave it up to VAG to invent some new ish. Also underneath is a form a funnel with I prolly should bought yrs ago, that'll come in handy20211011_203212.jpg in handy
You don't need that socket for Q7 front brakes as you are not supposed to remove the caliper from the bracket. It's the whole reason they use a bolt that you won't own a socket for.

DO_NOT_TOUCH.jpg

These are the only bolts you need to touch to service the front brakes. Nothing weird or out of the ordinary here.

Hazet 180mm combination pliers, rebranded Orbis / Will. It was either these, NWS/Felo/Kraftwerk (same) or VBW/Stahlwille (same). Hazet pliers aren't the best I don't think and are quite expensive but I really like Hazet for their quality. These pliers do not disappoint at all.

They are trying to clear out all the Matco from work so I bought all this. Showed up at home with it and thought I would be dead cause my parents were angry about it. I politely explained that I need tools to do my job and these tools were on sale for major reductions. The most I paid for the ratchets were $40 for the big 1/2 drive one used. The rest were about $20. Screwdriver set (which they were the most angry over) was $30. Long pick I want to say was $5. Cornwell ratchet $15. And that’s not even everything. I will continue the post with another as I can only insert 10 pictures. Forgot to take a picture of the wheel lock remover set that was $20 too. I’ll take a picture and post later with the shirts. The Blue Point impact was $30 as well and it works.

30 bucks for those screwdrivers?!?!?...LOVE those handles! Who exactly is clearing them out?
Heck yeah man that’s what I said. There is two more sets left. Wish they would of had orange but oh well. It’s the dealership selling them they terminated the Matco guys contract and bought everything from him in return. He was a Matco distributor just for our dealer he had a storage shed he worked out of there at the dealership. He was trying to sell new guys stuff they didn’t need and probably some other stuff too but they got rid of him for it. So now they want the space and everything is on major clearance. I might go back tomorrow and get more if it’s open.

I have a set of green, best handles on the market. Reds look damn sharp though!
If that lock remover set is like a set of keys and they have more for 20 bucks I'd make it worth your while to grab another! 2 times I've needed a set like that but still have not grabbed one yet!

They are nice handles. I bought a single one too that wasn’t included in the set it’s a long flat head. Now I’ll have two sets of professional screwdrivers since my Snap-on guy ordered me a power blue set of the hard handles haha. The wheel lock remover set is basically sockets that dig into the wheel locks and extract them if you don’t have the key.

Wait 'til your parents see you buy your first scan tool or labscope. LOL I just spent $300 to renew my warranty and update my Autel, since I need a screen replacement done. I thought it was a bargain; relative to the money to tool has/will continue to make for me.

You seem like quite a bargain hunter, keep it up. Everybody has some sort of limit or budget for tooling, and the more stuff you can get for every dollar you spend the better.

Good buys Blake. Your parents can’t be too mad at you, it’s not like you’re spending this money on booze or blow… These are all quality tools that will help you make money. The prices you paid are fantastic, really nice scores. Hell, you could probably flip a lot of those tools on eBay or Facebook and make some money!

Oh yeah for sure. I can’t pass up a bargain I seen and heard the prices I was the first one loading up on stuff. Might bite the bullet on a Matco box for around $1000 that they have setting there collecting dust. This guy hasn’t been here in 4 years. It’s all left over. I think it’s like a 4S box. They have several of them setting there the $1000 one is the cheapest but we can’t finance it it has to be paid for by the next payday.

The funny thing is the Snap-on guy showed up to fix a toolbox and seen my Matco hat and said nah bro and handed me that other Snap-on one. Then he seen all the Matco laying on my box waiting to be put away 😂. I told him I bought it cause it was cheap. He was like oh well at least it’s better than china freight. Then he fixed my screwdriver so I was happy. Next time I’m down there might get the other sets of screwdrivers I got several people wanting them.

Couple of new tools

So my matco 3/8 ratchet decided to **** out on me now that I don't have a matco truck that comes by.

I ordered a snapon FX80A weeks ago but it still hasn't come in. That left me with a round head SK for my only long handle flex head 3/8 ratchet. Love the SK but bulky head doesn't fit in tight spots.

So I found a pair of nos gearwrench 84t locking flex ratchets for ok money and fast, free shipping. Something to use until the snappy finally comes in and/or I can get in contact with matco for rebuild kit.

New retaining ring for my snapon air hammer chuck. Old one got bent up and won't stay in the groove.

The last I've actually had for a bit but never posted. Snapon orange hardhandle ratchet screwdriver. It may just be a bit too pretty to use at work... and I've already got a grimy soft instinct handle at work

A few of my recent grabs.

Snap-on Cabinet Screwdrivers. Needed to replace my old USA craftsman long drivers that are chipped and failing.

Snap-On precision pliers set. Been eyeing these for awhile now. Run into many occasions they would have made life easier so finally pulled the trigger and ordered.

Snap-On Torx T-Handles. Running into more Torx now that we have an Audi and another to be added soon. I love the T-Handle style and this completes the set as I have the hex metric and sae already.

Snappy stubby 1/4. Always wanted one, now I got one!

Snap-On flush cutters. Been doing loads of work in the boat running wires and a pet peeve of mine is cutting myself on poorly cut zip ties. No more.

Finally a Snap-On collapsing light. Similar to the Braun light from HF everyone loves, but much smaller and folds completely down. I have two of the Brauns and while they're brighter, the snappy has a light on the backside as well as a magnet there for added functionality and its much smaller. Its my go to now.

I hear you on the zip tyes! They give me anxiety, I'll pull out the flush cutters and start chopping before I start and I know some of it comes out of our shop, damn kids.

Why do the kids cut the tie ends into a chisel designed to puncture the top of my hand where the skin is the most tender. Just saying. AND why do they put multiple zip ties in one area when they add a wire instead of removing the OLD tie and replacing it... forcing you to be ultra careful not to cut the "added wires"...

Bundle the added wires in a new bundle and add it with ties NOT NEAR the existing ones... if you feel you need to keep things segregated.

Just saying... NJ Rant Over

Rigging boats theres enough fun stuff to snag your hand on running it down the gunnels, namely fiberglass and screw tips poking through. This will at least eliminate one item! I used to do the same, cut em all off and redo them when I was done haha!

Will do. They're spring loaded which is nice, they snap open well, but not too forcibly. Grips are solid size for me and I have hands on the bigger size. They all close 100% with no gaps or misalignment. I've honestly been very impressed with the pliers from Snap-On as a whole regardless of their country of origin. The snipe nose alone will be fantastic for pulling fuses!

Couldn’t wait to get home to get the rest of the missing pieces, so just went ahead and eBay’d them.

The set is complete now, minus some tips for the spinner, but those are consumables, so I’m not worried.

I use a finger nail clipper to cut flush all of the zip ties I use. The slight curve of such clippers leaves are very nice finish.

Man I still have that set! I just threw out the blow molded case when we moved, but all the parts and pieces are in various tool boxes still! I fixed a lot of stuff with those tools.

Gone a bit mad this month buying tools ... this months tools to date ...image.jpeg

image.jpegimage.jpeg

Highlight for me is Gedore pry bar ... the octagonal shaft is about 13mm thick. Business end is typically unfinished as is the German thing, which I have grown to like. Doubt it will ever break.

Same. When I started glazing, I needed a ratchet and socket set for redheads

I should still have my original set I bought back in 2006/7/8 ish. I say should, because it’s back home in Indiana, and I’m in California.

I did the same when I got a big roll away box. I took everything out of my first set, and filled my big box. But after a while, I put everything back into the blow molded case, and it has been my road box/junkyard box.

I’ve pulled apart MANY engines, and repaired MANY vehicles with my first/original set. So when I came across this one for cheap, I just HAD to get it. So now I’ll have a 117 piece in my k1500, 117 piece in my 07 Dakota, and I have my Kennedy for my Cummins truck.

My regret is that I didn’t buy more when they were available.

@designer485 how are you getting the hard handles off without destroying them?
Slide a fender washer over the shank up against the handle then clamp the shank into a vise. Use two small pry bars opposite each other pushing on the fender washer. The handle will start to slide off the shank. Adjust the clamping as needed for leverage and the handles should come right off.
