And since I’m in here. Added this baby a couple weeks ago. It’s pretty damn trick since you can use the stand or freehand it. It’s got a built in electronic bubble that works both vertically and horizontal.

But the best feature is why I bought it. Dustless dry coring and man does it work great. We’ve got about 70 2.5” holes to core for pathways on several computer rooms and both water and dust where a big no-no.

I would be interested in the comparo between the Nepros and Koken.

I got my Christmas gift early when I was doing the oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket of my parents X6 last week. I broke my combo of only using team red when I picked the affordable Husky ratchet. I didn't believe the hype of one until I started using it! I'll upgrade to a Milwaukee one when this bites the dust.

Found myself in Switzerland so had to go and check the local tool "scene". Found a nice screwdriver roll up set (70chf) but resisted the urge to buy it as I have many good screwdrivers.

In the end I bought a nice pick / scribe tool and a de- / magnetizer for about 15 chf.

This reminds me of the kind of displays that they have in the Bahaus home-improvement chains in Denmark, (although in those stores it's mostly Wera). I could spend all day and lots of money in those places if I wasn't limited to what I was able to stuff into my suitcase on the way back. Drool worthy, to be sure.

PB Swiss tools are sold pretty much everywhere. I got mine from Jumbo which is sort of the Home Depot style shop. Best prices at Galaxus.ch online with next day delivery.

Next to the PB Swiss stand there was a NWS pliers stand, no Knipex at that store (Jumbo) though...

I bought this ratchet off Ebay the other day and it came in. I have the soft handle version already but I have become a fan of the hard handles. It's used but has a 2021 date code and cheaper than if I got it off the truck.

I would be interested in the comparo between the Nepros and Koken.
I haven't used any of them yet, but my initial impression...fit and finish on both are very nice, but the Nepros is next level, and the feel of the ratchet is incredible. Great shape, size and weight/balance to it, and the mechanism has a very unique, and brilliant, feel to it. Sockets fit perfectly to the ratchet, and the rubber ring is a very nice touch. I honestly didn't think tools could be this nice.

The Koken stuff, is also very nicely finished but in a different way. Ratchet wise, I like the handle, but it feels very head-heavy so I'll have to use it before I can give a final verdict on it. It is also my first flex-head, so maybe that's just how they are. I also prefer a QR, so I wish that was an option on the Z-series. The mechanism does indeed have an extremely light back-drag to it, which is honestly kind of weird when you first experience it. Again, I'll have to use it before I can judge it.

The Koken sockets are what I kind of have an issue with though. The design and quality of them is fantastic, and they work great on the Koken ratchet, but not so well on my other ratchets. The 1/4 ones do not work at all on my Wera, and the 3/8 semi-deeps have a lot of play on the Nepros ratchet. The Nepros fit perfectly on the Koken ratchet. I ended up ordering a 1/4 Nepros ratchet (and a couple sockets), as well , so hopefully the Koken stuff will work better on that.

I think the Koken stuff is best off being used as a complete system. If I had to do it all over again, I'd just go with all Nepros. It's pricier than the Koken, but I think it's well worth it.

Here's my HF 30% off $10 under haul. These are the only type of things I buy from HF now & only with a coupon. Consumables only.... their low dollar tools I consider consumables too.

I really like this little ball peen, I keep one in my impact driver bag. Been so handy that I bought 3 more to put one in each of my other tool bags. And so cheap that I won't care much if one gets lost.
20211031_195840.jpg

I originally bought some leader hoses from HF just to get me going when I hooked up my current air compressor set up. Told myself when they blew out (and I expected them not to last long) I'd order some good ones. Well the 1st one out of 4 finally started leaking. I got them almost 10 years ago. That was well worth the money for under $3ea. So I bought 2 more. I swear I'll get good ones next time.

Wanted to try some application specific solution for my ultrasonic cleaner. I've always just used some type of soap or detergent, whatever I had around. This is actually made in the USA, not that I cared, but what's interesting is it says it contains TSP. I thought TSP was banned here. I just need to remember not to use it with aluminum, says it will discolor it. I may try with a scrap piece of aluminum just to see what happens.

Isn't it in cereal?

We used it to clean our airlines after they were contaminated with oil. Flushed with TSP over about 4 weeks.

Is it? I hope not, haha, I won't eat any cereal that has phosphate in it!

I know of TSP being an ingredient for many cleaners like degreasers & dish soap powders. I used to use Borax to make anodizing solution for titanium but since phosphate was banned in many states years ago & Borax doesn't have TSP in it anymore it doesn't work as well for anodizing Ti anymore.

Big box hardware stores here still sell the box of TSP cleaner in the paint section but it's called TSP-PF now, Phosphate Free. They also sell bottles of liquid that is named TSP Substitute.

Misleading that they still call it TSP but is phosphate free. I guess it's just trying to trick people who were used to using that product kinda like the red cans of Brakleen here in Cali is non chlorinated & is the same thing as the green can. Back then the red Brakleen cans were chlorinated & green is non chlorinated. Now they both are, CRC says they still make the red cans for Cali simply cause people were used to buying the red.:lol:

Google says one of its uses is as a food additive. I've only used it as a cleaner.
I had no idea, never would of thought. Just looked up the wiki page & now it makes more sense. The wiki page also mentions the reason why it's banned in many areas & is consistent with what I heard why it was banned.

Just so your guys know, phosphate is actually an essential nutrient for plant growth, and it is an essential nutrient for humans as well. 70% of our human bone structure is made up of calcium phosphate. Look at any plant fertilizer bag and it will show the N-P-K ratio of the fertilizer. N-P-K stands for Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium. Most lawn/plant fertilizer phosphorus is in phosphate form, because that inorganic form of phosphorus is the form plants prefer. In nature, soil microbes change organic phosphorus into inorganic phosphate so the plants can then take it up. I add phosphate to my lawn and landscaping as needed based on my yearly soil test results, because it is necessary for healthy lawn and plant growth. Grass needs it, bushes need it, and trees need it to be healthy. I even add phosphate to my aquarium regularly to help my live aquarium plants grow properly (usually monopotassium phosphate). It doesn't cause an algae bloom in my aquarium water. GSA (aka green spot algae) growth in aquariums is often actually a telltale sign that you don't have enough phosphate in your aquarium water and it will disappear once more phosphate is added to the water column. Usually in aquariums, general algae blooms are triggered by small temporary spikes in ammonia or constant low levels of ammonia, not phosphate. Interesting isn't it, how ammonia or urea is usually one of the main ingredients still used in fertilizers? In certain situations, that is the real problem going on with lakes as well. Too much ammonia.

Phosphate doesn't leech out of soil as quickly as nitrogen or potassium, so it can also more easily accumulate from overapplication. Phosphate levels that are too high can bind and cause other nutrients to become unavailable to plants. That dynamic causes the plants to not grow as well which causes other issues and so on. Phosphate essentially got a bad name for being used in excess by average people who didn't know what they were doing. It was banned to supposedly prevent toxic algae blooms in lakes and waterways from runoff. That was only a partial truth, used to try and stop dynamics that are much more complex and often completely unrelated to phosphorus from occurring in local waterways.

It's the same dynamic with any nutrient necessary for plants or the human body. Lack is bad, enough is great, and too much can cause issues. Regulators decided to pretty much ban phosphorus everywhere and act like it's a dangerous chemical instead of teaching people how to use it properly and cutting down the dosages in products that often had more than was necessary. Like most things in life, the truth is often quite different from the common narrative, and blanket regulations are often a simple "solution" to a more complex and nuanced dynamic.

Think I'm pigeon-holing myself going Hi-Viz in the long run, but hope it sticks around now but I guess I can change if it goes away. The color/tint isn't consistent with the Striking Pry Bar kit by it being a bit lighter of a shade. But whatever, in under a year they'll all be used enough that you can't tell.

I like the hard-handle much better than the soft or chrome now that I've used it right away...like a child getting a new toy. Easy to clean, the handle is NOT very big, and doesn't catch on things randomly like the soft handle I compared it to on the same task. The soft just seemed like it'd bother me over it's life and not last long enough where I have hard handles from the 80's that still look fine. It's those old larger handles I was thinking it would have even though I picked it up enough times to know better.

I wanted the locking flex head and he just kinda groaned at me saying that. He'll order it but I guess they're problematic? The boat crew guy on the truck I work across the fence from shook his head at it too, so I went for the stuff I know works.

Now I gotta ask if I can get the soft handled non-locking flex swapped to an HV hard handle.

[Edited for Speeeling]
Normally I hate yellow but I have been loving the hi-viz stuff. I have converted all my ratchets to the hi-viz hard handles along with a couple custom jobs. I even got some hansen and ernst hi-vix organizers.
