A few xmas presents.
xmas-haul.JPG

I've owned an older 18v/110v hybrid Ryobi blower for 4+yrs and it's one of my most used tools, it's very convenient but lacked the power for some jobs. This 40v is on a whole new level. The only thing I don't like about it is the variable trigger/ergonomics. As I move the blower around the speed constantly changes. Wish it had like 3 or 4 tapped settings instead.

99% of you guys who say your wife bought you those tools are lying. What really happened is your wife let you buy those tools for yourself for Christmas. Don't try to fool us.

My Mother-in-Law on the other hand. DID buy me this stuff. (ony because she asked what I wanted so I sent her the links :p ) Tekton screwdrivers, 10mm nut driver, pick set, and the cheap Milwaukee drill and ratchet set that was on sale. I managed to snag that $89 Milwaukee 3.0 and 6.0 battery and charger set that was on sale. Its on the way.

My HF tool cart is officially over loaded. Time for a big box.

Let's see what the fuss is about....gonna be hard to convince me they are better than Darn Tough though!

You'll like em, that's all I've worn for the past 5 or so years. I bought 30 pairs and after 5 years of working 60+hr weeks and all day on days off, I'm just now starting to replace them due to holes in the big toe. Very comfortable. I've never tried Darn Tough though.

I bought some knipex double angle pliers, a 3/8 shake n break, a gw 3/8 Phillips head impact for it. And my commuter got run into a tow hitch so I bought this. Hoods off rad and condenser out, fenders off, in the middle of drilling spot welds when I get the time. Was really looking to buy a bigger box....I still can, but tax season is coming up.

Been shoveling my obnoxiously long driveway (it runs the entire length of the lot for no reason…so I could fit 10 cars on it I reckon) for about four years. Last year the multiple 8”+ storms finally broke me. I could not find any blowers close to me, so I had to drive five suburbs over to get this one at an Ace. The dealers I called prior for Toro and Ariens told me they haven’t had any new products come in for months and they’ve never seen anything like it. What’s crazier is we haven’t had any snowfall here and it’s almost January. I would’ve thought the hardware stores would be neck deep in blower stock. This is my first snowblower ever and I can’t wait to use it!

Snap-on Tuesday today people. Picked up a flex head long ratchet 3/8 with a purple handle. Got some trim tools that are slightly different from the ones I have. You always find uses for those. And some hose pliers too. Then he threw in hoodies for me and another coworker. I am happy of course. And made a payment.

I know it's not technically 'new', but new to me and none the less, I am extremely pleased with my newest addition to the Fluke Addiction. I picked up an older, fully functional Fluke 1621 Earth Ground Resistance Tester for $100 and am very happy with my purchase! I was looking at an Ideal 61-796 ground resistance tester, but I couldn't pass this deal up.

When I picked it up, I was kind of expecting it to be bricked, as the seller didn't post any pictures of it with the screen on, but was very pleasantly surprised when I opened it up and it functioned properly.

I have to get a set of extended leads, preferably on winding spools for it, but even without the leads, I still think I did pretty good on the deal! I am currently looking at Ideal's TL796 lead set and spikes, as they are pretty nice leads and the set is very reasonable at $130 shipped.

~$230 total investment for an earth ground resistance tester... can't complain!

Here's my HF 30% off $10 under haul. These are the only type of things I buy from HF now & only with a coupon. Consumables only.... their low dollar tools I consider consumables too.

I really like this little ball peen, I keep one in my impact driver bag. Been so handy that I bought 3 more to put one in each of my other tool bags. And so cheap that I won't care much if one gets lost.
20211031_195840.jpg

I originally bought some leader hoses from HF just to get me going when I hooked up my current air compressor set up. Told myself when they blew out (and I expected them not to last long) I'd order some good ones. Well the 1st one out of 4 finally started leaking. I got them almost 10 years ago. That was well worth the money for under $3ea. So I bought 2 more. I swear I'll get good ones next time.

Wanted to try some application specific solution for my ultrasonic cleaner. I've always just used some type of soap or detergent, whatever I had around. This is actually made in the USA, not that I cared, but what's interesting is it says it contains TSP. I thought TSP was banned here. I just need to remember not to use it with aluminum, says it will discolor it. I may try with a scrap piece of aluminum just to see what happens.

In this part of the world, TSP is more commonly known as Sugar Soap, and is available at any paint store, as it’s used to clean down walls. Perhaps similarly in the US?

Stopped at PTSolutions while I was running errands yesterday. I bought a 26oz made in Germany Wiha deadblow hammer and a pair of Channellock 460’s (not pictured). Both were on sale.

I did not really need the hammer, but it is made in Germany. Wiha moved production of these hammers to Poland a long time ago, so it was a nice find. Every other one, that they had on the shelf, was made in Poland.

Blake, what do they call the purple blue color from the ratchet you just bought? I have never had a hard handle ratchet, but that color is badass.

I had two things come in yesterday.

First, since having to wear readers now, I find myself keeping the damn things handy while working in the shop and around my neck is the closest place I can think of. I ordered a package of ten (10) eyeglass retainers off of eBay last week. The 10-pack was less than $10 so I was worried about the quality but when I opened the package last night I was pleasantly surprised. They look and feel like good quality retainers.

Next, my Snap-on dealer brought me my O-ring/seal tool kit that I had ordered a while ago. Evidently the red handled ones were on national backorder. He had other colors on his truck but anyone who knows me knows there is only one color and that is traditional red. :bounce:

I have always used standard picks but have wanted to get a set of these for a while now.
tool2.jpg

I don't have the room to keep things in their blow molded trays so into the screwdriver drawer they went wherever I could find a spot that they would fit.

It’s called and listed as Dark Purple on my receipts from both the purple ones I’ve bought. It’s a little darker than the light makes it out to be.CD5724B0-6B4B-417D-8C31-2B31307088EC.jpeg

An Induction Heater , I had never used one before, it is amazingly fast at heating a nut/bolt.

IMG_8901.jpgIMG_8902.jpg

You'll like that. I've had mine for about 10 years or so. I don't use it as much as I initially thought I would but they definitely have their place, especially when most other forms of removing fasteners don't work.

Toro Power Clear. Bough one (my first and likely last) about 6 yrs ago. It's on the small side, but it does well enough for me in S. Idaho. Toro claimed "1 pull starting" and I'll be darned if it isn't (as you follow the simple start instructions). This reminds me that I need to swap out my push mower over to the snow thrower storage place for the season.

That is a sweet ratchet but every time I see that color, I think of this guy😂 although you may be too young to get the reference 👍😂.

I bought that set a few years ago. I wound up using it a lot more than I thought I would. Interior trim, light cleaning/scraping/prying, it’s been a good set.

I did a bit of remote work awhile back and needed it, but it was several hundred miles away in the shop. As luck would have it, O’Reilly’s had a similar set under the Titan brand for $16. Good as a backup and not nearly as pricey as the Snap On version.

I got a rubber headed 1lb mallet from Walmart today for $3. My old one worked so well that I wanted another to keep somewhere else

Cheap test lead kit. I wanted a different kit but I needed these asap so I'll see how long I can get by with them.
