I was browsing the Q1 Napa Real Deals and noticed they had a deal on their Carlyle Grease Joint Rejuvenator Kit for $49.99, which looks suspiciously like a Snap-on kit I’ve had in my wish list forever. I took a trip to Napa at lunch today to check it out, as this sale makes it literally half the price of the Snap-on kit. I’m 99% sure it’s the same kit manufactured by IPA and sold by Snap-on - I’ll put it to the test soon on a stubborn grease fitting on my lift:

glad to hear there was one real deal in there this quarter. How does this work? It gives the fitting a ********?

It’s basically an “oil hammer.” It works by injecting oil (lighter viscosity than grease) through a grease joint, under pressure provided by the impact of a hammer.

That's pretty nifty. I am trying to think if I have enough grease fittings to justify it.

Got tired of waiting for the snap on guy so I got these.

Interesting on the handle differences. Not that it's a big deal, but is Mayhew changing to the style on the bottom? I have Mayhew (top Dominator handle style) and Wilde, and the tips seem to hold up better on the Mayhew- I assume it's better steel. But I actually prefer the Wilde as they have hard handles, easier to clean; it seems that whenever I need a pry bar my hands/gloves are absolutely filthy :D

Edit: wait, the lower bar doesn't have the striking cap. I have some straight Mayhew Dominators like that with the cap. Never mind!

Have a set of the Wilde at home but at work I have a mix of Wilde Snap on SK dominator and some off brand. I like the Snap On because of the handle. When I change jobs I’m in a different area as my old dealers the new guy *****. I was buying Snap On on EBay but don’t see the Point anymore paying tool truck prices and not get in the truck. lol

Where else have you found those triangle fasteners? The VE TDI injection pumps have a triangle fastener on them.
I bought them for VW diesel (Bosch VE) pump work. Never seen them used anywhere else. I DD a 1.6L TD rabbit. Never knew a set existed and couldin't pass them up for the price even though I already have the one size I do need for the pumps I have worked on.

Do any actually fit that bolt? There's tons of reviews saying they don't fit VE pumps. :(

LOL, didn't try. Didn't read reviews either.
Too late and too cold to run out to shop to check.
But will tomorrow.
If I remember.

Edit: @Snapped-off
I know for sure this set doesn't have the large socket size to fit the back (opposite of the pulley) fastener. One that has the bolt you remove for dial indicator.
My buddy actually fabbed a socket for the big triangle the other week. First pump we both ever saw leaking at the Big triangle fastener.

Probably why someone returned it. Hard to turn down for half price though.

Amazon Warehouse is getting pretty flush with new/used inventory these days. Think January might be a rough month for my wallet in terms of some tool inflation hedging.

Got these silicone trays for $20. Might retire some of my large magnetic trays. The magnets keep falling off, plus they are showing inflicted abuse from getting dropped on the concrete floor or getting run over by the car...

Also finally got my Carlisle kitchen cart finally setup for bike maintenance duty. Another Amazon warehouse score. Experimenting with various cart setups in the great garage reorganization version 3.0. This is cart #6.

Not sure why i bought this set but it was close to the register and looked interesting. The ratchet’s are very slim and feel like decent quality, i do like that you can lock the head in place plus it’sa bit ratchet.

I have been eyeballing this Snap-on 32 oz. drilling hammer for a few years now. I keep waffling on whether I need it or it is merely a want. Well I finally got off the fence post and pulled the trigger last week and ordered it. Today it showed up. Then while on the truck paying for it I made an impulse buy which I am usually pretty resilient against. This Lisle gasket separator will be nice to pop the differential covers off and hopefully not raising burrs on either the cast housing or the diff. cover.

Picked up another hackzall fuel 12 volt, they are one of the handiest tools, almost replaces the sawzall. Amazing power for a 12 volt tool, plus it came with another 4 amp battery and bag, always use another bag.

Then you don't have the right Sawzall! Don't get me wrong the hack is a great tool, but I never felt like I was going to have my shoulders ripped off like my Milwaukee Super corded does.

My contribution from marketplace.

Just purchased this today.

Roofer's hatchet or? :dunno:

Anyone here know what is the proper term for this style of hatchet called?

Windchester hatchet.jpegWindchester hatchet ii.jpegWindchester hatchet iii.jpeg

In MA in the 60's & early 70's I always heard them called shingling hatchets. I suppose because they were used almost exclusively for splitting and nailing up cedar shake shingles.

Did it come with the beer? lol
That would have been a nice touch as after getting it home I discovered that it is missing a few pieces. I usually have really really good luck on facebook, hoping the seller comes through with the parts, but lets just say I am not too confident he will based on a few non-pc opinions.
