I caved in. Last week I was admiring the new Snap-on locking pliers but couldn't pull the trigger.

During the week I thought to myself "I don't think I have any locking pliers in my Jeep's toolbox". Those are almost a must have for trail side repairs so I thought I would put my previous version of the Snap-on locking pliers in the Jeep and buy the new ones for the shop.

I really like the fact that the screw at the handle doesn't thread through a formed piece, it is actually a machined bung incorporated into the body of the pliers. The screw also has a place to put a socket head in and tighten after clamped if needs be. The jaws are supposedly made from a harder tool steel and not the same as the rest of the pliers so they are less prone to damaging the teeth. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't use locking pliers all that much but I can sure appreciate what these ones are and just had to have them after all.

I also got a couple of new calendars for my son and I.

My reversible Supecombo ratcheting wrench set came in. One of the wrenches is wrong (it is a non reversible). I emailed the customer service. We shall see what happens.

Capri Tools haul today. Man was the box heavy lol. Got a brake tool for pushing back certain brake caliper pistons. Didn’t have it and it’s cheaper than I can get it for most places so I went ahead and got it. Got some 3/8 impact sockets because I’ve only got a few not a whole set. This set goes from 8-22. Got a 1/4 torque wrench which was on sale because I don’t have a 1/4 torque wrench. The case is a little big for it much bigger than I was hoping for. Then I got a set of impact adapters so you can use different drive sizes if needed. And a set of trim tools. The trim tools are similar to the Harbor Freight ones but you get more and they are better made and if they do break they have a warranty so I’m not complaining I could of used these today haha.

Now you've got a reason to finish off the non reversible set.

Where'd you order them from? I got mine from Tools Delivered before their site went down.

Just a few sockets over the last couple days, filling in some missing spots. Most of my sockets are Craftsman picked up probably over a decade ago, supplemented with SK to fill in the gaps where Craftsman couldn't be had. I figured it was probably a good idea to pick up these last few oddballs before I ended up having to find a third brand.

PXL_20220121_210910533.jpg

1/2" drive, 23mm and 25mm 12-point
1/2" drive 1-1/4" 6-point

Shockingly there are no QC issues on any of these three, but still likely to be my last SK purchase. Went with Amazon since customer service with SK doesn't exactly have the best reputation at the moment.

At least I don't have these three pegs on the Hansen trays taunting me anymore. ;)

I picked up a thread check set, a CAT ratcheting screwdriver (Williams), a Proto 1/2”F to3/4”M adapter, a magnetic spark plug socket with integral extension and a Carlyle 1/2” cushion grip ratchet.

Protoolwarehouse.com. I am waiting on another set of wrenches (Williams short pattern). Like I said, I e-mailed customer service. We will see what happens.

Half sized sockets for swollen lug nuts. Perfect and a must have for Ford and Toyota. If it had a 17.5 it would be awesome because Mopar lugs swell all the time on those lug stud type. But I could not find one anywhere luckily usually an 11/16 will work for them. I love tools but not both sets are for me lol 😂. One set is for my coworker Batman my sidekick. He is paying me for them so no issues. I think they were $64 each on Zoro where they were purchased.

Edit: Showed them to my dad and he is like why didn’t you just buy them from Snap-on like you do everything else? Lol 😂 everyone knows my bad habits haha. My main reason for not doing that is don’t use them enough and Snap-on was at least double the price.

Blue-Point 10mm ratchet spanner.

Fat headed compared to Facom, but Blue-point has smoother/quieter mechanism, and noticeably less back drag.

are those facom decent ? i just ordered a set of usag which appear to be exactly the same aside from the no slip open end. wanted some gedore but theyre way out of my league for home use. figured usag would be plenty good enough

I picked these up on my way to work yesterday morning, and by pick up, I mean it literally, as they were laying in the road. I ran over something, but didn't get a good look at in while pulling in to McDonalds for my regular breakfast, and didn't think anything of it. Well when leaving I saw a pair of vice grips in the middle of the parking lot, and then when I went to pick up the first pair, found the wire strippers. Then as I was leaving, I realized what the thing I ran over was, a second pair of vise grips.

Does anybody recognize the maker of the wire strippers? The logo is mostly worn off.

That looks like a newer version, the markings are different, but I bought those 3 half size sockets years ago for that exact same reason. They have served me well and taken off many many lug nuts and been used hard.

It may have changed since, but Snap On actually doesn't matter make a half size set. They do have a half size set under their Bluepoint brand, not sure of the OEM. But honestly those CTA sockets have held up just fine.

I have a CTA 21.5; I don't use it a lot but it's held up fine. I think it's difficult to buy a bad impact socket today.
Edit: to be clear it's the 21 / 21.5.

I think so, yes. The ring to stop the box end slipping over fasteners is a good feature. Does not work on all fasteners, but is useful when it does.

Hello GJ members!

This was just left at the door for me like 15 mins ago from Amazon Prime.

It’s a sweet little vial level from SOLA.

The cool thing about this is I just ordered it yesterday evening and well here it is!

Picked up all this stuff over the past couple weeks. Knipex was from Mister Worker - took absolutely forever to arrive, but the prices were good.

Home Depot was having a huge blowout on the Milwaukee locking pliers. I really like the locking C-clamps so far, much better than my Irwin's.

New oil filter wrench

SK Tuff1 3/8 extra long. This has immediately become my favourite ratchet. Was bidding on the roto version too but got distracted in the garage and missed the end of the auction by $1.
IMG_7729.jpg

These obstruction wrenches were on a big sale at Canadian Tire. I had a few recent instances where I really wished I had some, but I’m not sure if they'll get a ton of regular use.

This little Craftex 'precision' drill press vise has been really great. Super happy with it. On sale for $80 and it is miles away from the hardware store junk equivalents. Zero slop, really tight and precise.

IMG_7743.jpg

Last item, some cobalt hole saws, plus a Lennox and Milwaukee 1" for a belt grinder project I'm working on.
