Let us know what you think, my old gun is showing this age but it gets used pretty much all day every day.

Used it today on a Jeep front/rear gear job. So far I’m digging it, torque output seems to be pretty close to my Milwaukee m12 stubby, maybe slightly lower.
It does lack the ultra snappy response time that the 761 had when new, with just a slight delay in trigger time, but compared to my worn out 761, they are pretty close but I still notice it. LED’s on the front are a massive upgrade and with a delayed off I like it even more.
feels a bit more front heavy compared to the 761 but that might be from the slightly longer overall length with the bulk of the weight being moved forward.
Overall if you’re a fan of the toggle trigger and the feel/size of the 761, this is certainly an upgrade. Now if someone just bought a new 761 I would not sell it to get this, but if you find yourself wanting a bit more punch or your old gun is, well… old. Then it’s certainly worth looking into. Long term reliability is certainly on my mind and I don’t have quite as much faith in years of daily use as I do the old brushed models but I’m hoping to be proved wrong on that. Now with all that said I’m certainly happy with the purchase and excited to use it daily.
Last thing, I think I paid right around 280 tax included for the body only. My dealer had a few options on the truck (naked, 1 batt, 2 batt kits) and all were on promotion.
If anyone has questions on this I’m more than happy to answer :) I’ll attach a few more photos I took yesterday highlighting the size differences.
Thanks!
Rick

Darn, I forgot to look today, I was busy when he came in and I gave him the bad news that one of our new "techs" quit that owes on a new much larger box then he needed.
There's always next week.

All my punches from my Black Friday purchases. I’ll have them better sorted and stored once I get my new box to the shop. Also got some Mitutoyo small hole gages.

Those Proto punches are going on my list - I've been meaning to upgrade my beat up Irwins, and those sets look to be exactly what I want. If you don't mind, how much did you give for them and where did you buy them from?

How's the colour on the lobster? Is it a rubber that could get chipped and peel off or painted on?
I was surprised that it is dipped, not slipped on. It's fairly thick and translucent. I'm sure it could get cut, but should survive normal wear & tear from a DIY'er. I love the blue. Other colors are available.

The punches are really nice and I'd highly recommend them. They are all perfectly straight and have a nice weight. I bought them from Zoro when they had a special for select Proto tools for Black Friday. It just so happened that all the punch sets were part of this sale and I got the smaller pin punch set for $25 (35% off) and the longer pin punch set for $35 (30% off). I should've jumped on the drift punches too but I forgot about them at the time. Oh well, c'est la vie.

I had a really good Matco guy, and he let me do a bunch of horse trading with used Matco ratchets so I replaced everything in all drive sizes for Matco soft handle ratchets and I was able to make them color coded how I wanted them. Worked out great but they are all about 15 years old so I have been buying Snap-Ons to replace them. Eventually I'll sell all my Matco ratchets just because I'm OCD.
If you had to make a recommendation, would you suggest the Snappies or the Matco if these ratchets are to be your only flex ratchets?

Couple small items today Tone sliding t-handle, Ko-Ken 3/8" quick spinner and the Tone ratcheting adapter, as well as a Tone fender cover which has magnets and hooks, the magnets seem weak so might need to upgrade them.
I absolutely love my Ko-ken spinners. I use the living **** out of them. They fit so snugly and the knurling is freaking awesome. It's one of those tools you don't really appreciate until you have it.

Did it get the wheels off the ground? End up using the pinch pad?
Three of them.... by about 1/2in, which is enough. Drive has a slope so the front left corner had a little more weight on it & I couldn't extend the doodad to get the pin in the 4th hole. Should be perfect on flat ground.
As I'll be buying another one it won't be an issue. I can lift at the right rear p/w which will lift the ST enough to get the front jack in there with the pin in the 4th or lower hole. In fact if I step lift it front back front back etc I can probably get the pin in the lowest hole & get it all the way up. With 4 of them I could get the whole vehicle lifted about a foot.

I started converting all my socket rails over to Ernst. I have been wanting to do this for a while, but was unsure about spending that much...well I'm sliding down that slippery slope now.

I already have more on order.

i-JHCvTQ4.jpg

I am not going to use the trays however, they take up too much space in between the rails. If / when I have more space, they will probably get used. It is nice these rails stand up on their own though.

Blue for metric, black for specialty (torx ,e-torx) and red for SAE.

That is a damn tough question. I will preface this with the fact that I almost became a Matco dealer, so I do love their tools.

I think I would go with S-O simply because I think they would be less likely to outsource rebuild kits. Other than that, it would come down to best dealer.

I'll likely be heading down that rabbit hole soon myself.

I have 1 Ernst, a shorty, in one of my work bags, and I currently have the plastic Hansen spike ones in my main box now and a couple Olsa magnetics. I bought a friend a full set of Ernst (1/4,3/8,1/2-Met/SAE) for Christmas...he almost didn't get them, lol.

Good deal.
A buddy of mine had one of these holding up part of his house that had a settling problem for years. Haha.

Latest purchase:
A collection of ****.

Not sure WTF happened but the bag looks like it was dragged behind the delivery truck for a couple of miles. All five sockets are damaged. Amazon sending a replacement due tomorrow.

& yes, that is a tire mark over the address label.

One thing I can say for amazon they respond quickly and normally take care of issues. The only thing about ordering tools from Amazon, I am wondering if they are real or counterfeits? I am hesitant to order any name brand stuff................

I haven't used it enough to really know for sure. The sockets obviously you can't take a rail with you like you can some of the other options. The wrenches, I don't really see any negatives.
Did you have to cut the panels for your box? I was watching Obsessed Garage when he did his and seemed like he had to cut a lot of the panels.

Yeah, I need to cut mine. Thus the unused border in the pictures. I plan on finish trimming it with a router though instead of a just using a jig saw, I did a test cut and it came out pretty nice.

If you don't mind a small gap, they might sell a size that fits, if I remember right they sell a 26x24.5, two of those gives you 26x49. In my box that would have left me with less than a .5" border all the way around. I wanted a tighter fit so I bought two 26x29s.

Got the rest of the Tool Grid stuff I needed to organize the wrenches. All that's left is to put all the screws in and move it to the tool box.

IMG_20220202_164438__01.jpg

That looks pretty good and fairly efficient use of space. What did it cost to get to that set up?

Not new tools, but new to me...brought them home today:

A couple of Baldor pedestal grinders.

The 623e has illuminated eye shields, quite nice. It's missing a spark arrestor, but a piece of scrap metal and a few minutes will take care of that.

The 612e had a mechanic's lamp attached to the pedestal. Took the lamp off for transportation, have not yet reinstalled it. The 612e is also mounted on a back-to-back plate atop the pedestal, I have a variable speed grinder I'll consider installing on the plate with the 612e.

Both pedestals are nice and heavy, one VERY heavy. Nice and stable.

They both spin steady and quiet, zero vibration. I'll be replacing the polycarbonate. Not bad, but...

A few new items. I may keep the cheap screwdriver holder since it fits so well. Thinking about flipping it over and filling the back with joint compound or something since the plastic is pretty thin.

I think the Weras are my new favorite ratchets for work. I’ve been using the 1/2” ratchet and wanted to add the other sizes. Also scored some telescoping gages and some tool oil. I can’t get over how pricey machinist tools are getting.
