You'll like the Stihl pressure washer. I have had my RB600 for nearly 5 years now and love it.

So far so good, its a sweet little machine.

I would have upped to the 600 if they had it available, but I needed to put something place this weekend.

I ended up running it at 1/4-1/2 throttle for most of the time anyway so I didnt ned the extra pressure.

I was supposed to bleed my brakes and replace my pads this weekend, but wound up wandering the pawn shops and flea market because two of the parts I ordered never showed up. Ended up being a new to me tool day: long handle streamlined Bonney 11/16" box-end, circa 1956 (if I understand the date codes correctly).

I cleaned up quite a bit of surface rust. It's got the typical pitting I've become accustomed to on older tools with questionable history, but overall it's in great shape; it feels fantastic in the hand. First Bonney box-end as well as my first long profile. I may have to keep an eye out for more...

Some new tools arrived today. I have a Jaguar XJR that has many E Torx, Security Torx and regular Torx fasteners. So after researching, lots of info on the forum about Torx, and striking a balance on quality, price, usage time, and budget I decided to give Tekton a shot. We'll see how well they work out. One thing I don't like already is the blow moulded case. The sockets don't stay in place even with the lid closed

I also needed a new set of basic metric combination wrenches. Since I was ordering from Tekton already, I decided to give their wrenches a shot as well. Tekton raised their prices I got in before the increase.

New SK 14mm socket from the new SK. They’ve gone to sipping in a padded envelope. Chrome on socket is flawless from what I can see. Socket feels lighter more like a gearwrench socket than what I thought an older sk would feel like. Will compare to 2 other older sk 14 mm sockets I have. One is from a mint set from the early 1990’s. The other is a regular user that is worn and has some nicks that is beginning to have chrome loss on the rim with a significant rough spot. Still functional, but could bite you.

You did not have the ability to get a rebuild kit? Not sure if that what was wrong with it.
Not that I could find. I serviced it and the selector switch and gear were both toast. Chrome on the head was peeling bad. I was only minorly bummed. This one matches a 1/4” one I had to do the same with a while ago. Now I have a set I can give as a Christmas gift.

I bought this:

To remove this from a Honda swing arm:

Unfortunately, only one side broke free. The other side just.....well, broke.

Home Depot haul. BlakeTheCarGuy is a little unhappy he had to buy another battery and charger to get a replacement battery. Home Depot can’t do Milwaukee warranty unfortunately after 90 days. And they didn’t have this battery with any tool or individual or twin pack none in stock except with the charger but I can’t afford to have a tool down that I use pretty much constantly on every car. Yes I have my air impacts but that is time consuming fiddling with the hose and putting oil in and everything like that. The good thing is mom used her military discount to save me 10% and the manager gave me an extra 10% off on every item for the troubles and then thanked me and my dad for being nice and not getting angry like most customers do when they can’t help with the warranty so that’s a plus lol. The sockets are for work. Going on empty spots on my trays I know I bought the Duralast yesterday but I can’t put those on the rack without my OCD killing me lol because it would break up the set. But I know they are cheaper than Auto Zone for sure and made by the same people. Plus with the discount they all came out to under $3 each so I’m happy. And yes I still buy standard tools. I needed a 9/16 1/4 drive that was a little thinner for my tray because the ones I have are too thick to set next to the other sockets. The 18mm spark plug socket is to fill in my work spark plug socket set.

I think what happened with the impact is I think my coworker dropped it and the battery quit but I don’t know for sure I just know being the nice guy I am I let everyone use it when I’m not and it stopped working suddenly while one of them had it. But we are all good so I won’t put blame on any of them and I could be wrong it could of just gave out finally but only owning it since July I would expect it to last a lot longer than this. I tested the impact with another battery from someone else and it done fine so I believe it is the battery that is the problem. It charges fine but it’s totally unresponsive when you take it off charge and put in on the impact.

I have 3/8" and 1/4" SK standard sockets in 14mm from last year - can weigh them if you like

Watch that battery if you didn't toss it BlakeTheCarGuy! I really banged one around on a fairly long drop, didn't work and was just carrying it around until I could get back to the shop to toss it in the battery bin. It started to smoke and caught on fire around lunch and had to toss a hot potato with welding gloves I luckily had with me or I'd burn my cart down. Must of been fun to watch if anyone else saw me.

Figured I'd splurge a bit and start a small kit just for one motorcycle so that I'm not picking through the box and trying to remember what sizes I'll need.
This is mainly the fairing and external stuff needed to strip down a Ducati 848/1098 to get to the guts and am now putting together a list for the engine and suspension since I do my own valves and whatever. I'm thinking I'm going to get a small red Nanuk 909 case with Kaizen foam since the five T-handles are on the way and will take up most of the space.

Think the Torx is for a Ford underbelly panel removal for oil changes. Haha, I forgot why I ordered it but I got an extra now I guess! More on the way so let's see what shows up.

Keep your eye out for the milwaukee rep, get his contact info they will help with warranty. One day in the depot a rep asked if I needed help, explained I had a few bad batteries, he said go get them & he swapped them out. He gave me a card if I ever needed help shoot him an email, great customer service.

Micro Ratchet from O'reilly Auto Parts. Utilized the birthday gift they sent me. Cost me $7

Looks like it'll fit into some tight places. The ratchet has more teeth than my old Craftsman 1/4 which is 2 inches longer and has a larger head. (yeah, I know I tee'd up that one ;) )

I have that same ratchet. I use it all the time for things I don't want to put too much torque on.

My dad is cleaning out a hoarders house, and he brought home a few truck loads of old tools and knick knacks. In one of the boxes, I found d a little metal box with a set of 1/4" sockets and this little Cornwell TR-3 ratchet with a variety of sockets mixed. In a second set I found the little Mac MR5 ratchet and some Apex sockets. Both in great shape.

Surprisingly, my dad told me to take the ratchets since I hinted pretty hard that I would give them a good home. (I did offer to buy them). Anyway, they are now part of my collection.

Does it slip? I haven't used mine, but the mechanism feels pretty solid.

If didn't want to put too much torque with my other ratchets, I'd just "choke up" on them to borrow a term from my baseball days.
No it doesn't slip and I usually choke up on my ratchets anyway in that situation, but with that one, I typically hold it with 3 fingers and it works perfectly.

Facing a $100 bill for a pair of 12" cobras right now that I'm trying not to pull the trigger on. I'd really like to try the ones with the Quickset feature, but I think I'll wait to see if they're any cheaper in the US. Lowest price I've found is $79 for comfort grips (not a fan) and no Quickset, which I can live with given that I have got along without it on all my other knipex.

Not much in new tools lately but did buy a tool for knocking the stake back out on Toyota axle nuts after struggling on them for the rear of a '13 lexus LS 460. Real PITA doing the rear struts on those

Ban, how stupid. Cal, aka CARB, has the strictest regs in the nation and yet the worst air pollution. Just buy 'em in Nevada, Oregon or Arizona.

Carbs a joke..these guys cant even regulate a gas can properly........

I could have alternatively said - Im saving the trip to reno.

Your coworkers need to learn the Man Up rule, it's pretty simple as follows,

When you borrow a tool of any type from a coworker or friend or family and it breaks on your watch, you replace it..simple.

Years ago I borrowed a skil saw from a friend for a small project, it died. I went out and purchased the identical tool and used it to make my last 2 cuts and returned it to him. He simply said, you didn't have too but thanks so much for respecting the Man Rule. We were in our mid 20's then and today we are mid 60's and still best of friends.

Agreed! If you borrow a tool once, you need to go buy that tool so you don’t borrow it any more. One time I used a friends craftsman new professional pressure washer and ruined it. I had to buy him a replacement because it was the right thing to do! My conscience was worth more than me not being a good friend

blakethecarguy- do yourself a favor- don’t loan any more tools, especially power tools.
Those guys are not your friends if they are breaking your tools and not replacing them. They are taking advantage of you! If they need to borrow a power tool- chances are they need to buy their own👍. It takes most techs only one or 2 times being shut down in public in the shop when asking to borrow a tool before they figure it out.
