Been eyeballing the new Dewalt Cordless Under Hood Light for a couple months now. Finally pulled the trigger...

Dewalt-under-hood-cordless-light.jpg

I had been looking for a long time at the Milwaukee but never could quite justify it to myself for the $200 asking, but when I saw this come out last Dec-ish for ~$25 less, and it's supposedly brighter (1350 vs 1700 lumens which, well tbh, might well be made up. I never totally trust any manufacturer's advertised ratings) plus I really like that it folds to use as a stand up light, lights one side or both, or to hang it in tighter spaces, etc, I knew I'd be giving it a go before long. I'm already well invested in Dewalt 20V lineup, but I do also have some M12 so that wasn't really a deciding factor for me.

JAW MFG Co #3 Thread file with handle and a 3/4-10 thread restorer die.

I really like how this thread file is made, It reminds me of the older Blue-Point one I have in how the teeth are milled. This makes sense, as I think JAW used to make the Snap-on ones back 30 years ago.

Some eBay arrivals. Matco pocket pry bars. Not sure if actually Matco or just the name stamped on them but either way they were cheap enough. If Snap-on doesn’t get them back in stock soon I’ll be using these full time I only have a Snap-on straight one. Then some NOS Snap-on pocket screwdrivers in black. Showed my dealer he verified they are real just old stock. They changed suppliers at one point I believe for the current style. Probably 8-10 years ago to the best of dealers memory. I sure do think the black looks cool. Wish they still had that color. I got both Phillips and flat head. I’ll probably add one of each at work and then keep the rest at home as we have a express tech guy who likes to take other peoples stuff now. He tried to run off with one of my green ones and I caught him. At least he is going back to the express lane on Monday we just needed him as a fill in for a few days but still. I’ll have more eBay Snap-on stuff coming in a few days. I took an earful for these purchases lol 😂. I don’t consider them a waste of money I’ll use the heck out of them.

Wanted a 2nd set of impacts to keep in my cart, and decided to try the new Milwaukee impact sockets since Zoro is having a 20% off sale on Milwaukee accessories. So far I really like them, they fit well and the markings are awesome - you can see the size from 10 feet away!

Having the part numbers on the case is a nice touch...

I like the design on that, very cool, being able to use it for other purposes is a big selling point. I am immersed in Red land so I have the Milwaukee underhood light, i like it a lot.

On thing about the red one is you can take the light off the hood fixture, so I am 3D printing some 'clips' with magnets to hold the light to my lift while working under the car.

I have removed the light and used it for other things but it is not as convenient as the DW design.

I had a couple of orders come in over the past week. Koken 3/8 socket set, 3/8 breaker bar, and 3/8-1/2 adaptor. I think that I can official say that Koken has become my new go-to brand.

A couple more pairs of Tsundoa pliers...probably the best bang-for-your-buck tools out there.

Then some Silky scissors. Because you can never have too many pairs of scissors._P2A9725.jpg

Hazet 8630 ratcheting t-handle. I especially like using this with a tap socket. The reverse lever is in an easy spot to switch back and forth with your thumb. Much better design than the Gedore ratcheting t-handle I have

Very nice!

The Hazet 863q comes up as 1/4" drive & it looks like it in your pics. IIRC those Iwrin tap sockets only come in 3/8" drive. Are you using an adapter that can't be seen in your pics?

Some more eBay stuff. 10 Snap-on pocket screwdrivers in orange. My favorite tool color if blue isn’t available. And a older hard handle Snap-on SSD6 screwdriver. Tip is done for but I’ll have that replaced on either Tuesday or Thursday whenever I see him. It was cheap so even if I do have to pay for a tip which I don’t think I will then it would still be worth it. I have a few of these particular ones in the newer hard handle screwdrivers but I’m a nerd for screwdrivers I collect screwdrivers and hammers for tools lol.

You can't just replace the blade on the ancient SSD6. You'll probably get a new shiny Instinct handled driver depending on your dealer. Just remember that a snap on screwdriver is not a prybar/chisel/ punch
What brand are the pocket screwdrivers? Alexander used to make the best swag pocket screwdrivers.

Haha. If I do get a new one hopefully it will be a modern hard handle. I’m not a fan of the instinct. The pocket screwdrivers are Snap-on not sure who is manufacturing them for them now.

Pawn shop tools. New to me so new tool arrival for me haha. Craftsman toolbox and some random tools I filled it up with too plus 3 DVD and a Dale Earnhardt license plate for $10 total. Then Honda crank pulley tool, two twisted and broken Snap-on bit sockets 7/32 and 5/32 I will have those replaced. As far as I know they only replace the bits in them these are the pin style now they have pinless ones so I’m not sure if the same type of bit fits it or what but either way my dealer will take care of me. Then a Blue Point E4 E Torx socket. Then a Cat branded socket which is made by Snap-on and a PM T50 torx but socket which I collect that brand so I picked that up. $17.90 out the door for all of that.

They had a Matco dead blow hammer that was pretty used for $45 they said they would take $37 for it I passed on that I’d rather buy one from somewhere else because I have nobody to replace the Matco as my dealership won’t warranty Matco stuff and they banned any Matco franchises so yeah I’d be kind of in trouble if it broke. The second pawn shop is typically where I get all my broken Snap-on stuff and have it replaced because get it cheap then replace that’s the best way to do it. It’s technically only supposed to be for the original owner but you know…. I have spent enough money with them they can take care of me. They had some Mac stuff too and there is a new Mac dealer who is supposed to show up starting in April so we will see how he is. I have not been impressed with modern Mac but the stuff they have is older.

The modern bits press into those older sockets just fine and work without the roll pin.
