My only two Knipex pieces. Bought both on sale. The Cobras I can't remember the price but someone on Amazon was selling them $10 cheaper than anywhere else (free shipping) and bought the slip joints off KCtool with a 10% discount.

Only used the Cobras so far... and obviously there's a reason why everyone loves these.

Here's a cool story. I'm on a truck forum and a local guy posted in frustration with SK's customer service and said he was going to throw out his ratchet. I jokingly said, "I'll take them." Next thing I know I'm bringing him a 6-pack of awful IPA he loves and he gave them to me.

The pawls were jammed. I guess he called SK to warranty it and they said they'd send a rebuild kit. He didn't like that response so I guess he was done with SK.

So I called SK, they sent me the rebuild kit and I rebuilt it. Took 10 mins.

This was literally my first flex head ratchet. Still unsure of flex head anything but I'll get used to it.

SK 45183 (torn up head in bag, just using the part number for reference)

Never had hose grip pliers either. When I redid all my vacuum lines in my truck I wish I had. So naturally I bought a cheap *** pair after the fact.

Not impressed with the poor quality but for the price point I wasn't expecting much either. As you can see with the tips of the largest pair, they are pretty piss poor. But so long as they grip on to a hose and make it easier to pull off...Titan Hose Grip Pliers 1.JPGTitan Hose Grip Pliers.JPG

Wera 5006145001 Kraftform Plus 160i/6 Insulated Screwdriver Set

Bought these for $25 on Amazon. I see they're now $40. Yay inflation.

Figured I'd finally pick up a set of insulated screwdrivers since I do a lot of work on/around the house. These feel really nice in the hand and I haven't had an issue with the laser cuts on the tips mucking up any fasteners.Wera 5006145001 160i:6 Insulated Screwdriver Set.jpg

I was eyeing up the Koken wobble-fix extensions but came to two realizations:

1. The set is very expensive.

2. I don't think I'd like the wobble-fix feature. I know it's less convenient to have both fixed extensions and wobble extensions but I can just imagine the first time the wobble-fix would lock into a the fixed position when I was putting pressure on the ratchet... that would make me frustrated.

So I bought some wobble extensions. Yes the mismatch will trigger my OCD every. single. time. I open the drawer but this was the best I came up with.

Heyco and Stahwille wobble extensions (3/8). Love the finish on the Stahwille. Wish the Heyco had some knurling or texture.

I tried the combo wobble plus style, I hated it, when I’d need the wobble I’d end up pushing too hard and lock it in straight

Some new stuff today. Ace Hardware locations here have a 50% off sale on 4th of July and New Years. There was a ton more I was going to get but I decided I’d rather have money for the car I want rather than a whole bunch of repeat tools though some of the stuff was cool haha. I will admit it the die was not a need but I seen that and I’m like that’s just cool so for $3 I figured why not. They had a bunch of old Irwin USA stuff and things like that. This was the only Master Mechanic thing and it was dated 1997. Before Ace we had True Value but True Value around here is gone. Now if they would of had old USA vise grips i would of bought every pair but they only had an old Taiwan set and then rest was China. We went to three locations. The screw extractors are USA made as well. The grease is great stuff they stopped making the grease form and replaced it with spray this was the last one which the cashier said this doesn’t qualify since it’s on closeout but since stuff doesn’t move around here frequently I’ll go ahead and give you the 50%. They were a lot friendlier at the last location than any of the others. It was nice to have a day off so I can go shopping lol. Wish the bank and car lot was open I would of bought the ride I wanted today.

What kind of new ride are you getting Blake? Also does this mean you will have to change your avatar from the old yota truck?

Actually that’s a Mazda truck lol. And no as I’ll be keeping everything except the other Mazda truck that doesn’t run. Lol. It’s a rust bucket too. I have two Mazda trucks the 1989 is my first car and I’ll be keeping it the 1990 will be going if it sells. Both twins I hate to part ways with the 1990 that I bought last year but it’s too rusty too put much money into and hasn’t run in about 6 years. Plus I lost the keys to it. The car in question is a 2002 Chevy Blazer. 4.3 V6 automatic. Gold color. I like it because that’s my birth year lol. Low mileage too 117,000. Also cloth interior which is super important to me. Just need to figure out loan options with no credit and figure out how much I can put down. I never thought I’d buy a Chevy but I love those things and their equivalents. I originally wanted a Tahoe or something but this is smaller and better on gas and reasonable priced and it’s what I want now that I convinced my folks to let me bring home another car. And I made the deal if they let me get the Blazer which they don’t really want too because they are concerned about safety but it’s certainly safer than that truck. Then I’d have to sell the truck. I’ll be keeping my Beetle and Escape and since my dads car is crapping out I might give him the Escape. Just don’t need 9 vehicles or have room for 9 so have to keep the number at 8 lol.

The v8 Tahoe gets better mpg than the gas guzzling 4.3 v6 even when it's in a bigger vehicle with less gears.

Sounds like a plan but I do agree with d.McFarland and his mpg comment below😉. Sometimes finances dictate what we can buy but the Tahoe may be better in the long run? I had a 4 runner that didn’t get very good fuel economy and bought a ram 2500 hemi which is almost equivalent mpg.

True that.

A lot of guys on this board have a lot of luck with the used market, but here in Chicago, people are asking and expecting 80-85% of retail.

I purchased a basic mazda b2000 with a stick in 1990. We had moved 30 miles further away from work and only had a 3/4 ton suburban and a one ton pickup, both had 454s and 4;11 gears and sucked fuel. Got the Mazda just for work, throwout bearing went at 20K, took months on a slow boat from Japan to get a new one and it ate valve cover gaskets every 10K so that became the mileage interval for an oil change..lol Going back to the truck with a creeper 4 speed sucked after getting 30MPG waiting for the TO bearing..Drove that little **** box 110 mile round trip for 7 years and dumped it for another small MPG vehicle...

Been looking for a concrete saw. Didn’t want to rent as the price was around $100 per day. 😳 Missed one on Kijiji nearly new for about 1/3rd of retail. Phoned around and found a rental place that was changng from Stihl to Husky. Asked if they were retiring any equipment, he checked and said no. But they had a new Stihl TS800 that they could blow out the door for 30% off. New blade included. I gave him my CC info and they are holding it for me.
A little bigger than what I wanted but 30% off is a good incentive. Once I’m done with it I should be able to recoup my investment. F5D55C92-5101-4BB3-B895-FF579F09E554.png

I got mine the other day, and I'm really looking forward to using it on a purple pear tree that I've let grow wild way too long. Unfortunately it's still in the box since I managed to tweak my back a couple days ago, and pushed through getting all of our beach gear washed down and stowed, so it's extra spicy at the moment. It's the wrong time of year to do it, but I'm going to take the M12 Hatchet to it in the next day or three and get the thing back in order...

Since you added the Capri 24mm… any particular reason you chose the Sunex set over the full Capri set?

Largely in part because of Sunex's reputation with impacts and the opinions of guys I follow on Youtube who are professionals that treat impacts like anvils. They all speak highly of Sunex impacts so I'm just going with that.

I use one of these, folded, for a kneeling pad (also unfolded under the truck). Somehow those tiny foam kneeling pads (I have a couple) just don't seem large enough after using this. It has handles for carrying.

I was wondering around and saw it and figured for the price I would give it a try. Definitely better than nothing. The Amazon one is more substantial for sure 👍

Inspired by a GJ member vwpieces, I had to get this brand new tool. First tool I purchased that I hope I don’t have to use. Soooooo not looking forward to taking out the CV axles of 2000 Toyota Solara.

A $20 slide hammer adapter works like wonder when taking out CV axle. But this is also fun if you have a lift.

Some Hazet and Stahlwille goodness.

A Hazet 863HPS to replace the HP one that came with a set that I recently got, a 50mm extension, and some hex sockets/T handles. I've been using their bits lately, and they are really quite impressive, so I decided to dive a little deeper into their offerings.

Then from Stahlwille; a flare nut wrench, a few of their "electric" wrenches, and a couple more ratcheting wrenches.

Matco Wednesday today. Got some long bent and straight pliers. I needed them several times today for those annoying hose clamps. I’ll buy the tool for those soon. I personally like them my coworkers said they didn’t care much for the handles. That’s understandable but I do like the feel. I had the straight set already in the box from Snap-on so these will all go in the cart. Pretty nice pliers I think. Made in Taiwan but that doesn’t really matter to me they are well made. I really hope they don’t run this guy off the management went on there several times today complaining that the hourly guys are staying on too long. I’m hourly they didn’t say a word to me but they did the lube techs haha. He stays at our shop all day on Wednesday.
You ****, Blake the car guy.
