I just bought the Tekton version of that torque wrench for home use, which is expected to be delivered tomorrow. It appears to be exactly the same, but with a silver finish. I thought $65 was a pretty good price a 250 ft/lb torque wrench, but it looks like the Lexivon version is a good bit cheaper than that.
Amazon open box on warehouse. Picked my Tekton up for like $41.99. Only thing wrong was cardboard sleeve box had a sticker over a tear. Great wrench for the $.

If you look at most torque wrenches, they are about the same. I originally thought about a digital one but figured that the batteries would go bad and possibly corrode, cancel that idea for a wrench.

Then startef looking local for clicker style. That's when I noticed even more looking alike. Instead of buying at a big box store, I went with Amazon. About $30 cheaper and I like the black finish.

If I had to guess...same factory, different line.

If you don’t use it every day, pop the batteries out on the digital ones. They are nice though, especially if you need angle.

Absolutely. Especially Snap On or something else expensive.

Leaking batteries will destroy the tool.

follow up on that "Chicago Electric" oscillating multi-tool from Harbor Freight on the previous page:

I bought copies of all the brands of blades for that tool that Harbor Freight stocked: Bauer, Hercules, Warrior (pics on previous page.) Of the lot of them, the "Bauer" with the "titanium blade" held up the best cutting off nails.

A few minutes ago, GJ member JimDon was kind enough to forward a message to me, part of which I want to pass along:

JimDon said:
"Do yourself a favor and buy some of the Bosch blades with the tungsten carbide edges (Home Depot). They cut the best and last the longest."

When we go down to pick up the door and the flashing, I'll pick up a couple of the Bosch blades and give 'em a whirl.

No feedback yet on the Wera #2 phillips bits. We ran out of phillips screws and the new ones have T25 heads. Go figure.

(Nobody's ever gonna know after the wall's painted.)

Soon I'll be ordering the Tekton split beam torque wrenches.

I'd love the Precision Instruments one but that's outside my budget.
If you're talking about the one I was thinking about, I decided not to buy that one.

It doesn't reverse. No torqueing left handed threaded stuff or attemptting to check torque when disassembling something.

Picked up this today. Had my eyes on this planet for a while, but had to wait for a commission cheque to clear before I bit the bullet. This will go on a flip cart along with my Grizzly spindle/edge sander. Hopefully will start assembly on that project after we get back from vacation so I can get the spindle Sander off the floor. Then it's onto scouring for wood to make my new end grain cutting board for the knives my wife and I got as a very late wedding gift.

Matco and Snap-on Thursday today. One of the roto heads I ordered months ago finally came in. This is the 3/8 still waiting on the 1/4. That makes ratchet number 33 at work lol. Also copied my coworker and bought the Matco thin wall sockets and the collapseable magnetic tray/bowls. The advantage to these thin walls over cheaper ones is the sleeve is warrantied too not just the socket. Wish it included a 22 instead of a 17 though. The magnetic bowls was just because purchase lol. I plan to pick up the pink impact too when it gets in. Not just because it’s pink but because my coworkers have pretty much worn out my Milwaukee cause they use it more than I do. And I’m for sure not buying Snap-on power tools I’d consider Matco but don’t want the hefty price tag. And not impressed with what I’ve heard of the new Milwaukee so yeah.

I might order tons of stuff tomorrow because it’s pay day but I also am supposed to retake my state inspection test too so if I pass it I get to go on a shopping spree lol. Plus then I’d get a raise so I’d have more to spend the next paycheck lol. This is my third attempt out of the two allowed attempts lol. Technically it’s the third but on paper it’s the second. The trooper helped me out and didn’t count it the first time cause I was so nervous I could barely talk to him. It’s very nerve racking to have to stand there in front of a state trooper and explain everything and don’t look like a fool trying to use the headlight machine. My coworkers tell me I’m the luckiest person ever cause they all don’t like the state trooper I was like no, I’m just a good kid because he asked my bosses how I was as a worker and that helped him make the decision to give me another chance. Plus I’m the only one that has never been pulled over before or gotten a speeding ticket lol. And he is strict on the headlight machine but even though I totally flunked it the first two times he still let me continue the test even though that’s a part he won’t let you miss. It pays off to be a good kid. Me and the big boss had a talk today and he told me if I pass it that he will let me get what I want sooner and go back to Subaru sooner than originally promised because I’m really unhappy working on Toyota again. But he said either way I will not think any less of you if something happens that you don’t pass and no one is going to be mad or disappointed in you either. And either way I’m still first one the list to go to Subaru when the renovations is complete. It’s nice to feel respected where I work. The Toyota boss over me doesn’t want me to go but I think it’s best for me to go back to doing what I’m used too and what I want to do. The thing is if I fail I don’t get to move back as soon and I have to wait a year and retake the test again.

Sorry to get off topic a little bit haha. My first Snap-on purchase in awhile and the first time paying the bill in four weeks lol. Because he hasn’t been there two out of the last four.

What happened to the previous 6?
Still have 5 all in good service. One headlamp was given away to the flashlight deprived. The thrower was sort of a replacement/compliment to rest of the flashlight collection. It might have been a mistake as I think a flood beam is probably more practical on a headlamp than a thrower.

Those magnetic cups are super useful. I love mine. Also, good luck on the test. You got this.

I'm a little late but I had a tap & die assortment show up monday. A guy online came into a load whose provenance was probably a dude that bought out a hardware store that was closing. There was a plurality of NOS Vermont American taps, dies & assorted accoutrements and he put together about a dozen or so sets and put them up for $100 ea. I have my dad's old Blue Point metric tap & die set along with other assorted odds & ends he had bought over the years so I said "They're mostly SAE? I'll take one, why not?" There are a few metric sets in there along with some tap handles, die stocks, an extractor set & a thread pitch gauge. They're not sorted there, just laid out but I think if I get a 1/4-20 NC tap I'll have quite the set. Now all I have to do is figure out a case for them rather than the ziploc bags he packed them in. Haha

Irwin Hanson sells the tap and die cases, both the large 75pc and the smaller 40pc ones.

Todays eBay and Amazon haul. $20ish total for all 3. Needed a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer and Matco guy didn’t have one and Snap On guy wasn’t in town so I found this Mac one on eBay for $11 and it came with a chrome swivel 5/8” that I will probably never use. Either way, was a good deal.

The jack pad adapter was from Amazon and I think around $10. Can never have enough of those things if you drive or work on a BMW.
