A couple pairs of those fancy-schmantzy Malco Eagle Grip locking pliers. These things are like jewelry... almost too pretty to use.

Today’s new additions.

I find myself constantly using a Chapman set at work, so I picked up one for home.
EDIT: after looking at this pic. I realized they sent me the wrong set. I ordered the 7331 and they sent me the 8900. Oh well, at least it’s Amazon and should be painless.

Have some bolts coming up to remove on my Jeep that I know are going to break, so I grabbed some extractors to have on hand. 5 piece Irwin set, and I wanted a set of external style removers. The Rocketsocket are made in the USA, and the projectfarm youtube channel rated them very high in their tests.

And last, some brass punches. I’ve never had a set.

The rocket sockets work great!

Very simple new tool arrival, needed a 19/32 wrench for the lock nut on this switch guard and didn't have anything around that size that was thin enough to fit well.

Overall finish and craftsmanship on on the wrench is pretty rough but it does fit the fastener nicely. Might try to bend it at an offset, not sure yet.

tamaraw,

When you need a thin wrench for lighter duty jobs, think bicycle tools! Cone wrenches are traditionally just made of metal stampings and you can bend them, too. For 19/32", if you wanted 15mm, that would be under $10:

Is there any plastic cover to keep mud and grit of of the chain/bar? (And then you could call it a scabbard.)
Nope, the only thing I don't like is it will not fit with the chain guard on. I am going to buy a cheap one from amazon and cut it to length to protect the chain.

Thanks for the recommendation! I actually paid about the same for this one from zoro with a coupon and combined shipping on a larger order. It's only like 11.5cm long which is actually better for the space it needs to fit into.

I thought about making something but I've been pretty busy at work lately and didn't have a lot of spare time/energy. Not totally sure on the exact mounting location for the switch either but I'll figure it out. It's a replica NASA switch (shuttle era) that I'm going to use for a lighting system on my Hazet Assistent.

Bought a toolbox loaded with stuff. Mostly Snap-On. Seeing as I have very little in my boxes this was a cool find. Other stuff as well.

Plus a load of Vermont American stuff.

The socket combo wrench/saltus wrench set is pretty cool, not a common tool to see these days.

Wow! That looks like pure gold!

And a lot of metric sizes too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the older style Snap On open enders (which I really love) in metric. Most folks were buying SAE when they were available.

I consider those ”flex combination” wrenches to be a very under rated tool. I’ve encountered a couple of jobs (one of them an awkward door removal) where they were the only tool that really fitted.

I always ignored Saltus wrenches. I worked with a guy who used them for cable tray. I will have to watch out for them.

I have one 1/2” Saltus wrench. I have never used it.

Slowly and steadily adding to my work box. Starrett tap handles. A bit pricey even with some savings via Zoro but I have struck out trying to find any via the interwebs and garage sales. I’m starting to look like a real machinist at work now. 🤣
Those are very very nice.

I bought mine brand new: 174 $2.90
93A $3.75
93B $4.25
Hope you didn't too much more
Enjoy your new tools.

I've been eyeing a set of Norske bits on Amazon to replace my Ryobi set (which has served me rather well....they're just getting worn out). Glad to hear they're good quality.
I don't remember who recommended me this Norske bit set but this is probably the best quality bit set I have owned.

Wrench rails. This will be the 4th different kind I've tried (Princess and the pea) Mostly trying to make the most of my shallow drawers. If these fail they will be doomed to lay flat in my box

Wrench rails.jpg
I use these and the snap on ones ( same oem I believe ) and they're great for shallow drawers up to around 1 inch / 24 mm wrenches

I wanted a complete set but they were out of stock on a few so They will be resupplied in November … I bought what they had all 6 pt. I have a mix match of sets and wanted every peg to have a socket on it.

I’m just a home owner that has a few toys & I’m not using these to make $$$

USA made Quickgrips, they surprised me with the weight on them. Kinda wish I could find a few more of them.

Also grabbed these Vermont American Tap and Die Sets and got this snap on flood light for free. I remember a buddy having one from Costco or sams club it’s nice and bright.

I have one 1/2” Saltus wrench. I have never used it.

I bought an inch sized set of them from HF ~35 years ago when I worked on small engines. They seem ideal for that purpose, but I only used one or two sizes a time or two and never again; I finally gave them away to get rid of them. They do seem like a neat idea, but I quickly realized that they don't do anything unique.

@upgrading - where did you find Engineer screw removal pliers for only $14 bucks?!?!?
From your Vampliers thread
Don't think they lasted long at that price

Picked up a set of these used on eBay for a pretty good price, Sunex hose grip pliers, they don't look like they were used much if at all, couldn't bring myself to buy the Pittsburgh set .

I've got the Pittsburgh set and they ain't pretty to look at! But they've worked so far. And it's neat that sometimes you really do want to squeeze with one hand and yank on the pliers with another.

When you don't want extended reach, consider Knipex 38 95 200. (Or maybe for less money, the thinner gripped version.)

(Yes, for twice the price of HF giving you three pliers, the Germans will give you one.)

Best value: HF/ICON now makes a version of these:
