Metal?got this in yesterday's mail
Thanks, but its just OK. Have you ever owned one? I have and sold it after about two years of use. They are OK, but every time I get one I start wondering what all the hype is about. This one was cheap so I bought it. Just wondering what I may have missed the first time around. One thing I noticed today was the 1 hp rated craftsman grinder is really only about 1 amp more than the older craftsman 1/2 hp. So its not 1 hp. The seller had a 1/2hp Wissota he was keeping, I would have done the same. The higher end Wissota grinders are my favorite used scores so far. Haven't had a Baldor grinder yet though.Dude, you scored a 1 hp block grinder! You **** majorly! Well done
yep!Metal?
Where did you order them from? Thanks.proto ASD combination wrenches
I love my Proto ASD wrenches. I have them in 6pt and I always reach for them over my Wright wrenches. You’re totally right in that the ASD will not mar and it’s definitely appreciated.Sort of, Proto calls it "anti-slip design" or ASD.
There are two notches and the jaw surfaces behind those are actually convex so that a fastener can twist or rotate slightly while remaining in contact with the flats rather than all of that force going to the corners. The curve is fairly subtle:
But unlike Snap-On or Wright designs that use teeth for extra grip, the Proto geometry is designed specifically to not mar the fastener. Working on my own vehicles and other older stuff, I appreciate that.
I have a 3/4 model that’s like that one. I would love to find a 1 hp. I rarely bog the 3/4 down and it’s a fantastic work horse. How old is this 1 hp you just found? There probably is a date stamped on the bottom in ink on the cover plate? Thanks, but its just OK. Have you ever owned one? I have and sold it after about two years of use. I got them from Zoro with a 20% off coupon. They also have them in satin chrome (with polished heads) using the same forging and the slightly shorter full polish chrome models.Where did you order them from? Thanks.
The 3/4 is rated at 6 amps 115. The 1hp is 6.8 amps. I really think its more marketing than grunt, no way is another 1/4hp is only taking 0.8 amps. I looked for a date code, not there. I'm not unhappy with the purchase, just realize what I bought. Its probably close to a true 1/3-1/2hp 8" grinder. It matches the logic of the 6.O hp labeled craftsman shop vac I have that runs on 110v!I have a 3/4 model that’s like that one. I would love to find a 1 hp. I like the oxide version but they do come a little oiled and sticky in their plastic bags. Assuming the chrome probably wouldn't.

Check the GJSS thread, Lotta goodies this year.Hopefully lots of new tools to show off today!
Truth...the magnet on the bottom of stronger than expected. It'll make a great work light. Those flashlights are pretty handy with the magnet on the light end!
How do you like those Capri wrench’s? I’ve had a slim 15mm SO wrench on order since March, and that capri set is the same priceFound some Capri slim wrenches, Astro 1/4" metric universals, and a little Autel for scanning at home under the tree this year! Also picked up a set Snap On metric flare nut wrenches for $60 (not pictured)
I haven't gotten a chance to use them but I've wanted them for a while. The only thing I don't like is that their metric set only goes to 19 while their master set goes to 24, so I'll probably be buying the extra 2. The finish on them is really nice and they don't have as much flex as I thought they would (though I'm definitely not going to reef on them). How do you like those Capri wrench’s? Shoot! Get me to my chiropractor, quick!
Thought about posting it in the orange Snap-on thread lolHaven't been on here in forever and one of the first things I see is you with something orange. I like it!
LOL Probably. It was only a couple bucks so I found a replacement that someone posted. The 'set' is now complete. Just need to think of keeping them in this hard case or finding an organizer. Only thing is the standard ones I see go up to 20mm but this only goes 19... I might just go for one of those modular rails or just leave it since I already have some Harbor Franks stuff organized out in the toolbox. No 4mm socket? Well, that just means that you're definitely going to have a 4mm nut show up in your life in the coming... uh... decade?
