Two new Craftsman USA screwdrivers from the Ace Hardware annual new years 50% off sale. Went to 5 Ace Stores only found a total of 9 USA screwdrivers left these were two of them. I need the number 4 Phillips for my Beetle and the flat head I just got for my Craftsman USA collection cause I didn’t have that one yet. I also found some old stock USA made dies from Irwin but I already went inside that location three times as had my parents and the manager said we couldn’t take advantage of the discount anymore so didn’t get them. At the other stores not really any tools I needed or wanted so I got some Duke Cannon soap and some other stuff.

I picked these up today since HF was running their new years sale.

I have the double box end ratcheting flex wrenches, which are great. I love the length, but I didn't like the idea of using a ratchet wrench to break loose fasteners.

The standard box end on this set will come in handy.

Got me a 36” wood lathe for $100 with the knives, built myself a table with mostly scrap wood I had lying around.

Bought a 12A variable speed (2500-8500RPM) 4.5" HPT/Hitachi/HiKoki grinder. Manufactured in China. It has a brushless AC motor, and this allows for a smaller grip diameter, says HPT. It has a grip circumference of 7". My 1 year old 10A single-speed (11,000RPM) Bosch 4.5" grinder has a grip circumference of 7.25" and my 35 year old 3.5A single speed Makita 4" grinder has a grip circumference of 8".

Picked up a couple more on the 3/8" power fist ratchets that are on sale at Princess auto and a Lisle scrub brush for calipers. Also a thread checker. I'm fine with SAE but not so good on guessing metric sizing.

The thread checkers from princess auto aswell?

New 48 inch magnetic level and a few pairs of new work gloves. Got the wife and I winter work gloves, and a new pair of "mechanics" style gloves for general use. Had a rebate to use and that ate up most of the cost.

That HPT grinder kit is currently only $39 at Amazon, which is dirt cheap. And it gets 79% 5-star reviews. But I wonder how many hours of runtime it can actually do. In contrast, the variable speed HPT 4.5" grinder I recently bought typically sells for $169, and I expect it to last the rest of my lifetime. Metabo-HPT does offer their power tools at different quality levels.

Personally I would rather have 4 of the $40 grinders and have a different disc type on each.

Anything inside??
I have several "selections" of Wera Kits that need a home. I'm currently using a Milwaukee bag for most of my Wera stuff... I would like to segregate a nice selection of bits and bobs to put in this new bag. I recently purchased a fancy 3/8" ratchet/hex bit combo ratchet from Wera along with some bits and sockets. I have so many "bags within bags" at this point... I rather have a SPOT for bits and extensions.

Makes sense. I don't have any Wera yet but I quite like the bag/tool box. I found them online. Neat idea by Wera.

there were a few items waiting for me at the post office today:
new arrivals 010323.jpg
2745UV Duro/Indestro 5/8" universal-joint spark plug socket (NOS but it's missing the neoprene insert.)
ZONA razor saw - more on this one later
WELLS W-1 tap set 2-56 to 12-24
PROXXON box containing a WURTH 1/4" drive ratchet, "Chrome Vanadium" sockets, 3 and 6-inch extentions, a Herbrand M23 2-inch extension (who collects older Herbrand here? all of mine is Triangle era junk. it's got a bit of surface rust on it, but the detent ball is good. let me know.) and a Craftsman "H" series 6-inch extension.
Sockets are 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13mm - no 12mm. Seems odd, but I don't know German cars, so maybe it's supposed to be that way.

I see you got one of the bit sets. Still unavailable here. The website can't even show a store nearby that has one.
It was the last one. The workers said they were all out. Found it randomly...was not in the designated place.
