A couple additions over the last couple weeks.

My wife got me the circular saw for Xmas…..

picked up a 1/4 die grinder using 20% coupon and grabbed some PB blaster while I was there.

Grabbed some oil from Walmart cheapest around.

I absolutely love Walmart and their oil selection/pricing !
WalMart and Meijers here in the midwest are the cheapest place to buy oil. I can't believe that people continue to buy their oil at the big box auto supply stores. Nothing like throwing $10 extra a 5 qt. jug down the drain. Even with their oil and filter "sale" packages your still paying way more.

That happened to me this week too. Ordered a Double pack of the Wera Electrical bits (1 of each size) 3 sets came. Didn't notice the fine print.
I ordered a "Parrot Nose Pliers" from HF this week. Thought the thing had 4 legs when I opened the box. 2 came together in a sealed bag. I only ordered one and was charged for one. Not sure if it was a packaging error or if the guy packing the box is supposed to cut the bag and take one out. They're not sold in pairs from what I've seen.

Please contribute here ;)

Last oil change I ordered the oil and filter from amazon. Best I could do and was less than the auto parts store. I did it because I wanted a particular filter that the local auto parts store doesn't carry. I don't shop at Walmart in person. They don't have any stores near me.

They have free shipping $35. Just order two. I can't think of a better place to buy oil without special promo

Been awhile since I posted in here, some tools I got awhile ago

First the m12 tower light, got it back in fall for grilling after dark. I was going to get the older m18 but the light only tilts down something like 25 degrees

PT thin wall sockets with the removable sleeve for Nissans and idiots that should have used splined lugs with after market wheels. Forgot to snap a picture when new

Mac RBRT bit set, on sale

Blue point extractor set, have I mentioned how much I hate wheel locks. What's the point? People lose the key, or it breaks. All the thief has to do is break a window and grab the key, now your wheels are gone and you have a broken window. Or you leave it at home and have to get a tow when you have a flat and still need to retrieve the key from home

Mac extractor and left hand cobalt coated drill bit kit. Been wanting left hand bits for awhile. So I couldn't pass up the sale price of $250ish for the kit

Not really a 'new tool' I guess, but fixed my old jumper cables this afternoon. Had the clamps, bought 25' of 2awg welding wire in both colors, added tinned lugs/heat shrink, riveted them to the clamps. Came out looking pretty nice, I think, hopefully they work just as well.

Ordered another set of clamps, going to use the old wire and make a second set.

My girlfriend can't find her Murano's wheel lock key after her last tire rotation. Now she can't get her tires rotated. If she doesn't order a new wheel lock key from Nissan in the next week or so I'm just gonna destroy that wheel lock with an extractor and replace it with a regular lug.

I doubt there's an underground market for a 2014 Murano's wheels....

The tool addiction has been flaring up as of late. A new universal spark plug socket, locking extension, and jig saw got delivered today. Spark plug socket and extension are for a spark plug change on my Toyota 2GR-FE V6. Both are Proto. The jig saw is for an upcoming floor installation. I have the withdrawal shakes now and may order a jamb saw….6470303D-2C23-4A16-A2DC-84F0A70ED0F3.jpegC872E912-24F0-4DD4-BE87-A0825CECFC73.jpeg

Leftover bits and pieces mostly.

Around 30 years ago, I became the first guy to figure out how to diagnose and repair the electronics in an obscure European brand of pinball machines. This spiraled a hobby in to a side business, and for most evenings in the last 25 years, I did mail order board repairs for customers around the world.

To the right of my bench:

BE30DC72-1079-4F79-A730-A3F47F97CADF.jpeg

All of the ICs, and passive bits and pieces needed.

The other view:

6312AA4C-82D3-418B-BC0F-97AF46E348C2.jpeg

My home made test bench. Top left board is the CPU. Bottom left is an interface board to drive the solenoids (24) and lamps (80). Top right is the sound board, this one with two audio channels and one speech. Bottom right is the power supply.

Inside the box is a transformer, and some custom hardware I built around a BASIC Stamp to perform automated testing of these boards. A CPU board being tested may be running “game“ ROMs (software) or the custom “test” ROM I designed and wrote in Signetics 2650 assembler to make it easier to diagnose failures.

Behind the box is my ROM burner, an old DataIO that can handle old weird chips like the 2708 as well as the more modern stuff like the 2764.

Lots more info is on my web site www.zaccaria-pinball.com
I didn't understand a bit of what you said, but very impressive none-the-less.

Curious, what's the purpose of the lever under the handle?

Not necessarily a super exciting new tool purchase but a necessary one for power outages 😉. Normally $1099… Costco had it on sale for $899 and I also had a $200 gift card so I ended up paying $699 for this 11400 starting watt generator 😎. It’s big enough it was delivered by a truck and a pallet jack 😂

^^ Why do you need that fancy expander tool to do PEX?

Because there’s no way I’m going to hand-expand a house full of PEX joints. Also, tubing manufacturer strongly recommends using the powered expander over the hand crank, even though they make and sell the hand crank tool.

The right answer is: Because Garage Journal ;) :p

Amen. I have the same setup and got a new one for a deal 4 years ago. Re-piped my whole house in Wirsbo PEX with that tool. Worked perfectly. No way I was going to do it by hand. 4700sqft house? Nope.

Picked up the Mayhew Catspaw picket from MSC for $15, wish it would have gotten them with red accents to match my Dominator prybars, but the orange isn't too bad. Very comfortable and well made.

The catspaw is smaller the handles are only 5/8" wide.
