Got some spark plug sockets to help a friend with his plugs only to find out he decided to buy his own from Amazon. Also picked up a ratchet to meet the free shipping. So far I’d say the Ko-ken reputation for low backdrag is totally deserved. Will see how it holds up over time.

Did hf have any of the icon flush cutters or the some of the other pliers? So far I have bought 2 and they seem pretty good for the money. Next big icon purchase for me is the long part metric dbe wrenches.

It's a dreary, wet Sunday morning in Phoenix so, what better time to venture out to use a 30% off Harbor Freight coupon  A quick online search of available stock of the elusive Icon three position slip joint pliers, showed them in stock at only one store in my area, Off to Central Phoenix I went. Naturally, they weren't hanging on the pliers display. There wasn't even an open spot for them :wtf: The store did have the new Icon dykes, needle nose, and arc joint pliers on display though. I found a clerk, who reluctantly looked the pliers up on his in store computer and verified what my phone was showing. Although his computer said they were hanging in the pliers display. we did a quick search of the pliers rack. He got called away to assist with other issues but, came back saying he would check in back. A few minutes passed, and he returned holding two pairs of the pliers I sought in his hands. I thanked him for going the extra mile finding what I was looking for. I should have gotten his name, as it's rare to have someone actually help you these days. Anyway, the 3 position slip joints list for $19.99 but, Harbor Freight has the whole store on sale this weekend so, items less than $20 are 30% off so, I snagged them for $13.99 plus tax. I'm happy to get them. Initial impressions are that, they're a well made pair of pliers. Nice finish, sharp diamond serrations and grooves on the jaws. One thing I noticed, is that the left half of the pliers drops down about a 1/16 of an inch or one row of the diamond shaped teeth when in the middle slip joint position. They are even in the other two positions. I don't think it's much of an issue when gripping stuff but, haters will probably jump all over it. :dunno:
Since Channellock discontinued my favorite 8 inch slip joint pliers, I'll see how these work out.
Sitting on the porch when I returned home, was an Amazon Japan box containing a 250mm pair of Engineer Brand Slip Joint (water pump) Pliers with screw removal jaws. I saw them in a Tony the Technician video last week and ordered them. I didn't realize they were coming from Japan because, the were listed on the regular AMAZON USA site. They were on sale for $25.91 with free shipping. I was pretty surprised to see them. First off, They're Japanese pliers made in Taiwan  :wtf: Green textured grips, nice finish. The adjustment is a little stiff out of the packaging but, I think it will free up with use. The adjustment notches are on the back side of one of the plier halves instead of being on the inside edge. Given their long journey to reach me, $26 seems like a bargain to me.

Today must be my lucky day. Another drop off on a Sunday no less. Amazon dropped off the Lisle 35170 pocket pry bar set. I ordered these back on 12/22/22 along with a bunch of other peeps wiping out available inventory. The slow boat from China made it here. First impressions: I'm glad Lisle skipped adding a pocket screwdriver to the set and gave me two angled pocket pry bars instead. I like the shape of the handle. It's a little meatier than other offerings. I wish they would have added some texture or graining to the handle though, instead of using that smooth as glass, cheap looking plastic that's so common these days. You get two different angled pry bars in the set. One has a 1/8 thick flat bar stock blade and the other has a 3/16 thick flat bar stock blade. The 1/8 inch version has a magnet on top of the handle. The 3/16 does not have a magnet. The magnet is pretty strong for its size. It will pick up a 1/4 drive ratchet with ease which means, it will probably get quickly snatched out of your shirt pocket by the first car door you get close to entering a vehicle. I really like the 3/16 blade version. I wish it was available separately. I think it's much handier than the 1/8 version and could do some damage to connectors & trim if you're not careful. I would still like to see Tekton come out with their version of a small almost pocket sized pry bar wherein they mate one of their pick handles with a 3/16 flat stock angled blade. That would be a winner-winner-chicken dinner in my book.
I wasn't kidding about the slow boat from China. The package has made in China printed on its backside.

Snap-on's do that too.
Awesome you got your hands on a pair of the Icons.
Thanks for sharing a snapshot.
Looking forward to picking them up soon.

The engineer pliers look quite handy too.

Gearwrench 12 point shallow 1/2 MM sockets, new wrench rack for the angle wrenches, random Craftsman USA sockets from here to fill in holes. 20230113_131747.jpg
KD Full Polish 1-1/4 combination wrench to fill in a gap in my large wrenches. Never seem to have the one you need, but I think I have it nailed now (have a 2nd 1-1/4 in the Craftsman Industrial rack). I can't say I've ever needed a 1-3/16, but there's a spot for one if a USA one comes up cheap.
