Microfiber towels and other paint friendly towels only for me :) Bath towels scratch paint. Maybe fine if you dont care about scratches but for nice vehicles you gotta take care of them.
You sound like you may already be aware, but just as a PSA not all microfibers are created equal. Just like many "100% cotton" bath towels, they can use nylon thread, which is what scratches your paint/clear. If you're looking for good MF towels, get ones that have no sewn-in labels and have polyimide thread or have mf binding on the edges of the towel. Good ones cost more, but generally have much better absorption and last longer. While I'm ranting, only wash MF with other MF and throw a cup of vinegar in the rinse cup. If you use fabric softener or sheets of any kind in your dryer, don't put the MF in there - you'll essentially ruin them.

Nope, i feel you....I seem to always have the "dont wash mf with other cotton towels" conversation with my wife :)....seems to happen about every 2 months or so. Also the "dont put the towels near areas that collect lint or other hair/dust" conversation :). I feel like our rants are definetly on the same playing field ...ha ha.

I ordered this today on Amazon to go with my cable and Knipex hose clamp pliers. I think it will come in handy in some situations.

Those look just like my older AST hose clamp pliers. You'll love them as they are my go to pliers for constant tension hose clamps.

New house, new tools. Probably won't snow again this season now.

Like you, when we bought our new home in 2016 I bought a couple of the 36" Snowplow Snow Pusher. For light snow they work great and are lightweight. Mine are now just over 6 years old and show no signs of wear in their use.

I’d been wanting a neck light for a while, and decided to order a Matco. It didn’t quite meet the $75 threshold for free shipping, so I grabbed a Silver Eagle extension for $8.**. (A guy can always use another 3/8” drive extension, right?) The light is great, and I’m really impressed by the extension for being the “value line”…the machining and finish is flawless.36CAA02C-C48A-413C-AB73-19BF011C7330.jpeg

Scott, I bought a pair of the Snap-on LN47ACF pliers a few weeks ago and have only used mine once so not sure what to think yet but I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.
I saw you picked up a pair. I have been looking at them for a little while. I am going to put them in the line up and see how they perform as a multi use plier.

Started a new job working HD Diesel so I picked up some things I needed. GearWrench filter band wrenches ranging from 3 3/4" - 5 3/4", Davco filter wrench, Lisle anchor pin bushing driver, an LTI brake spring tool, and (something I never thought I'd need working on big trucks) a HF 3 jaw oil filter wrench.

Picked up a few 3/4" drive items the other day.

Chicago Pneumatic 3/4". Had to redo the air plugs. Works. 1675225452814.jpeg
ChicagoPneumatic2 (Large).jpg

KD Impacts, a MAC 3/4 - 1/2 adapter, some misc adapters and 3 large Performance Tool sockets
KDBox (Large).jpg
KDSockets (Large).jpg

I do have a bit problem. I keep buying them when I find them cheap. I have over 60 packs I think. Maybe more. These are the Bosch Driven sets and the Crescent bits with the non-marring adapters.

An upgrade for the old Cman plastical jig.
More goodies to go with it are due here tomorrow.

You have more patience than I. I had a Craftsman jig probably 50 years ago. Used it once just to see how it worked. Obviously not near as nice as the PC you have. I just gave up. Biscuits or rabbets for me.

Where did you find a deal on the Crescent driver bits? I've only got about 10 sets and need more LOL

They were hanging on the displays at Lowe's. I think someone posted it in the Lowe's deal before I saw them.

My Lowe's had a ton of them for 3-5 bucks a set depending.

I can’t justify the cost of tier 1 “everything”. My 3/8” impacts are HF Icon but I figure if I need to break out the pneumatic 1/2” I don’t need another socket exploding in my face. Got a decent deal on eBay. I’m trying to fill gaps on the tools that get beat the hardest with higher quality.

I'm curious housewolf, what socket(s) have previously exploded in your face? Did I miss that thread?
It was after I joined but before I started posting regularly so there is no mention of it here. Not sure what it was as most of my impacts were come by one at a time on an as needed basis. Could have come from HD/Lowes, Amazon (most likely), pawn shop etc…I really don’t know. I replaced all the 3/8” with HF Icon & the 1/2 w/snap on. I do have some larger ones, seldom used and usually task specific, but most of those are made in USA from various companies. I did take a pic at the time but must have deleted it

Well that's vague... What were the circumstances? I'm assuming it was an impact? 1/2" drive?

Did it explode, as in launching bits and pieces of the socket uncontrollably into the air? Or did it just crack? To what degree is the word explode exaggerated?

Yes, I'm genuinely curious. Cracked or otherwise broken sockets/tools happen... But I've never seen something explode.

^ FTR: We DID have a 1/2" drive HF stud remover literally "explode" down at the shop one afternoon. Damn thing flew across the room and took chunk out of a cinderblock wall. Seriously. We did NOT have a pipe on the breaker bar.
That is the one and ONLY instance of "explode" I have seen.

Excuse me, I don’t usually write the way I talk and explode is not the correct term as there was no “explosion“. If I were verbally telling the story I would say the SOB exploded.

The ~ 19mm socket shattered on the square 1/2 drive end, tearing a chunk off the socket about the size of a small grape. The piece that left was never recovered. I went back and looked, I took one but but no longer have the pic of the socket. I was removing rusted bolts holding a wench mount on a trailer with a 1/2” IR pneumatic impact. I have a few tools I’ve had a very long time. Since I wasn’t much more than a boy. That incident motivated me to go back and evaluate all the tools in my box. If that piece had hit me it could have meant a trip to the ER.

FWIW; I’m 67 years old and don’t recall another instance of this happening, at least not while I was present. I have split chrome sockets in my younger days using them on an impact.

ETA: I stand corrected, like I said… I’m 67 years old, it wasn’t a socket, it was an extension. The fact I had it was very short and in a double socket must have fogged my memory. Found the pic. It still caused me to revaluate the old tools in my box. Particularly impact tools

^ okay... sorry to jump in here guys.
I processed all of our warranties at the warehouse - I've seen hundreds (if not thousands) of "defective" sockets.
MANY had big pieces missing from the sides. MOST were simply cracked, rounded out, or (obviously) broken by using impact guns on chrome sockets.
but as to "explode" (e.g., pieces of shrapnel flying hither and yon) the above is the only one I've seen personally.

But... I seem to recall a lot of them coming back with a piece missing, and one has to wonder "Where did it go, and how did it get there?" :dunno:

I have cracked and broken chunks out of the business end, not the drive end, of a few sockets in my day.

I don’t really sweat it. I just grab another one out of my spares.

I have cracked and split impact and chrome sockets.

I “misuse” one particular socket a LOT. A 3/8” drive 9/16” chrome socket that I need for inside the channel of Unistrut. My 9/16” impact socket will not fit in the channel of Unistrut. Sometimes you have to dance with the one that brung ya…
