I've always been a little intrigued by oiler cans. Aside from being indispensable on the workbench they often look so interesting. I have to stop myself from buying them when I see them at flea markets, I almost brought home a 2 quart oil can the last time I was at a flea market. As much as I liked it I knew I didn't have any use for it.

1 - Golden Rod Deluxe 1 pint pump with separate filler cap and long flexible spout. I keep it near my lathe and drill press for cutting lube.

2 - No Name - has copper colour on the bottom but that is worn off everywhere else, about 2 -3 oz diaphragm type with a long flexible stem and down angled tip. Great for topping up oil cups on my lathe.

3 - No Name - has copper colour on the bottom also so maybe golden rod?, about 2 -3 oz Pump with an extension for a good long reach

4 - Zoom Spout Robert Shaw all purpose lubricant. This little plastic oiler has an extendable spout that doesn't leak. Note the little *** sticking up on the lid, used for storing the red cap when in use. 4 oz.

5 - Stainless Steel Kitchen olive oil dispenser that found it's way into the shop.

6 - Wesco England - about a 4 oz pump style with a metered tip

7 - Golden Rod - very similar to the Wesco but notice the nice bell shaped flare on the bottom which makes this one much more stabile where ever you set it down. 4 oz.

8 - No Name pump style about 6 oz.

9 - SYMONS OILER - I believe this is a SYMONS Oiler although there is no markings on it. Here is an interesting link to some cool info on them:

http://www.wdm.ca/artifact_articles/oilcan.html

10 - No Name About a 3 oz. diaphram style with straight spout.

11 - No Name About a 1 oz. diaphram style with straight spout.

12 - A nice 2 oz. pocket oiler, no name.

13 - I call this my Alladin’s Lamp Oiler, everything is soldered into place with no access to the pump.

14 - This is a tube of ANCHORLUBE G771 excellent machine work lube for cutting various types of metal, threading etc.

15 - Just a plastic oiler, aboit 8 oz.

Also pictured is my collection of singer sewing machine and 3 in 1 oil cans.

Got an interesting oiler or info, please post.

Nice collection, that "alladin" oiler is pretty sweet! I have a few old Craftsman and a few no names I'll have to dig out for a pic.

I also have a #7, but it must be the Wesco because every time I reach for it, it's lying on its side. I have one that looks similar to #11, but it looks bigger than the one pictured. I'll get a photo of it tomorrow, as this thread is of interest to me.

wow, nice collection! I have a bunch as well, i'll have to take some pics tonight. got a nice copper one all polished, some chrome craftsman, some old eagles, I really like the old tin-man style from the early part of last century, but also have lots of 3-in1 and other oil cans, the 3-in1 household are common but I have a few 3-in-1 Motor oil cans as well. look similar but a motor pic instead of the house...

One oddball that I found and have never got a answer on what it is really for. When you pull the trigger the spout moves and inside the pump/checkball is inside the round handle.

That thing is sweet. I love old oil cans, and have never seen one like that.

Since you don't know what it is for, you better just throw it out in a trash can somewhere near me. :D

Yes pls, pictures pictures pictures, this thread is all about pictures.

one silver and one brass colored gravity oilers

I'm jealous, yours all have flared bases and makers markings. I've always considered the regular ones as diaphragm oilers because they squirt when you squeeze the bottom (usually although some don't work that way)

I also have a #7, but it must be the Wesco because every time I reach for it, it's lying on its side.

LOL I know what you mean.

Great, it sounds like you have some interesting ones. I never knew about the 3 in 1 motor style cans, will have to look for some.

Neat collection! Will have to take pics of a few things I have.

Thanks, anything goes as long as it squirts.

This small oil can is from KABI. Made in Denmark. I keep it filled with ATF oil, my daily "universal oiler"...http://www.kabi.dk. Btw. i think that 2oolhounds #8 could be a KABI - i have a quite similar looking KABI laying around somewhere. Dont know if they were ever exported overseas though :headscrat

Brass pump - very nice made.

This is an old swede - made by "Press och dragdetaljer, Kristdala (Sweden)". All brass except the handle and the lever.

I have one made by Kroil. It looks like #7 in the first picture. On the label it says "the Kroiler".
That's a keeper!

Thanks for the info on the Kabi.
This Pressol Spezial is indeed Spezial! It's a contender for the "Oil Can Harry" award.

Very nice collection. I like the new chromies but that brass one with the pistol action pump is cool!

Here's what I have, no actual oilcans though.
Good variety there and it's nice to see them all capped. (I definitely need to get caps for all of mine with all the grinding I do). Nice to see some more Zoom spouts and the Anchor Lube is good stuff. Crazy Larry's Secret Lube gets points just for the name.

As usual, my 'collection' is quite modest compared to most of you. It started when I bought a few from Home Depot, hoping to cut down on my WD-40 and PB Blaster expenses. Now I just keep one aerosol can of each in the race car, otherwise I use my gallon jugs to refill these piston oilers.

So here's my little collection: a Craftsman that everyone has, a little plastic one with extendable spout, a little no name that everyone has, and my big Johnson railroad oiler with 23" spout.

Here are mine Ill try and get a better picture of them some are hidden in the back.

Quite the herd, I count 19 so that pretty much makes you an Oil Baron!

As long as it gets the job done.

WOW! The Big Johnson is a trophy! It reminds me of the tallest skyscrapers around the world that they add those humongus antennas on just too try to have the tallest in the world. I think by the time you've pumped oil to the top of that thing the main reservoir would be dry. Real slick!

I like the Pressol Spezial and the canted one beside it. The Reilongs look like good functional units.

Nice to see the Mac and Bluepoint in the playing field and with wide bases. You have a nice assortment there!

Nothing too amazing, a modern red 1/2 pint metal one, a little plastic one I bought for something specific I forget what now, the ubiquitous can of 3 -in-1 and the only interesting one. The metal one is an old French Bib brand oil can, Bib being short for Bibendum which is the name of the Michelin man. This was a rnage a goarage products made and sold by Michelin. Probably dates back to the 60's if not earlier. It's very heavy and still works really well, the spout is copper and the pot heavy cast aluminium.

No idea what it is, found it on a pile of metal scrap my neighbor was putting out in the street.

That looks a lot like my #8 which humber2 id'd as a wesco in the next post, thanks for that humber2.

Davefr that eagle #99 is a real gem! Hard to tell but it looks to be about 4" tall X 1" round. Nice!

I'll play..
NHBandit you have an uncanny ability to collect oil cans and such a nice display. Congratulations! You have earned a complimentary - "Can Can Victory March!"

I dunno man, I kept looking at those cans in your avatar and almost missed these oilers. That Bib a truly unique one. Thanks for the background info on it, very interesting! and french too... OK, between that and the avatar you get a Can Can Victory March also.

Not a can, but still a nifty little gadget you don't often see, at least I don't. It's an oil pen I found among my dad's gun tuning tools. When you press the tip against the item to be oiled, it backs into the shaft, releasing the oil. I don't have it in front of me and can't recall the name on th clip, "Oilmaster"?

Nothing too special here.
1564dwh.jpg

I don't have any "old school" ones as my father had a few in his workshop that I would have liked to have had but by the time his health deteriorated and I thought about it, someone else beat me to them, along with many other of his tools/possessions.

I have a lot of little specialty oils that I use and have dedicated squeeze bottle for each but my actual "oilers" are fairly new. The two Goldenrod oilers I just purchased this year for my machine equipment. They contain #2 Way oil and ISO68 hyrdaulic oil for using in the little oil reservoirs on my lathe and milling machine. The black pistol oiler I have had for about 10 years and just has 30wt motor oil in it but gets used quite a lot for just general lubricating. All others are just squeeze bottles with odds and ends lubricants in them, ATF, cutting oil, Howe's Mystery oil, Injex 2-stroke oil for reaching down into motorcycle bearings and giving a shot of oil upon engine assembly, a mixture that I use on CVT clutch bushings, etc.

Mike.

Nothing special here either, but it's a fun thread, so here's my two cents.... The steel oiler on the far right is stamped with U.S.A. across the top of the trigger. It has a paper sticker on the side of the can, but the writing has completely worn off due to handling and oil seeping onto it causing the letters to fade away. So, I can't say who actually manufactured it. I bought it a dozen or more years ago at an auto parts store. That's about all I can remember about it.

This was sitting in the mud next to 2 vises I bought at a scrap yard. The yard owner said just take it. All I did was a quick wire brush with a soft wheel. As a check it still pumps air pressure if I block the outlet with my finger so I'm sure oil won't be a problem. It's even clean inside. Now to buy or make a tip.

Quite a regiment there... I like those larger diaphragm types on the left rear.

Wow, that Alemite Spring Spay is different! You'll have to post another photo once you have it fully functioning.

I found this on the web, close but no cigar. There may be more info around there, I didn't have time to look further.
