Everything except the gear is interchangeable (the gear isn't since CMans have the QR).

Putting the ball: Put spring in hole, put ball on top. Use a thin slotted screwdriver to depress the ball and put the pawl/reverse lever etc. in. Only takes about three hands... :D

SO makes a super cheap tool to hold the ball in place (which I keep forgetting to get). Can't seem to find the link at the moment... Anybody?

They are the FX80 and SX80 and replace a whole bunch of other ratchets for me since they lock. :D Highly recommended!

really? we have a flex head 3/8 at work thats supposed to lock like that but just slips like a normal flex head, is it supposed to lock hard? like and actually hold it?

haha...those digital torque wrenchs are expensive. I like them but I'd take a click type anyday, doesn't bother me.

The Snap-on tool for use when replacing the extreme tiny ball that WILL pop out and disappear has stock nr SPP744.

A tip when replacing parts in a ratchet. Put it inside a see through plastic bag. It will catch up any "flying" items when doing the job:)

These are my "Keepers". 3/8 drawer, 1/2 drawer & 1/4 drawer. Don't make fun of my extensions! I just keep picking them up at garage sales and piling them in there. I really need to post a bunch of those in the classiifieds.

They lock HARD. There's grooves on the back of head that get enganged by the tip of the black lever. If the one you have is a SO locking flex, try pushing the black lever to the left, then let it slide forward. They can be used both locked and unlocked.

One of the nice things about these threads, is you get to see such a broad range of tools. So, lets see more.

See this is the problem with this site.. Since getting my tools jacked at a track few years ago - I have had 2 3/8 rachets, a older SO and a crapsman. Both have serced me well for 3-4 years now (the crapsman has been replaced i think 4 times and once again broke) - but since being on this site - I have some how figured 2 dosn't cut it and have added 8 new rachets in the last 2 weeks!! Great collections!!

not to insult ANYONE in any way shape or form....but...

some of your ratchets seem to be of the same length but u have multiples...maybe different companies or whatnot...but my question being...

WTF does one need so many ratchets for? and are there a select few that you use all the time?

Why do we have so many rats.
Hubby says "will you help me with the lawnmower, it will not start" (he has had the mower for 30 years, and some one gave it to him then cause it was old and broke, he is sort of attached to it). I say, "yes dear, if you let me buy another ratchet"

so its the history of each ratchet that makes you keep it? that makes sense...i have an old craftsman ratchet that was passed down to me...it works like **** (probrably just needs RRL :)) but i still have it cuz it has meaning...

but still...some of you guys have A LOT of ratchets lol you cant be attached to ALL of em....can you? haha

I get bored easy so I switch ratchets all the time.I may use six different ratchets to do the same job on six different days.If I'm tearing down an engine I'll usually have a different socket on every ratchet, saves time switching things around. Why do I need so many?If you have to ask you may be on the wrong board.:pimpflash
