So a buddy calls me 3 days ago asking what size compressor I have at home that I used to paint his motorcycle tank. I tell him it's a Husky 26 gallon 5.5 hp oil-less. He tells me that he has a lead on an 80 gallon compressor. His company is getting rid of it and he told them he wants it. Tells me it's too big for his garage and for what he needs it for and do I want it. His company only buys decent equipment so I tell him yes and and ask would he be willing to trade it for my compressor and me painting his fenders for his motorcycle. He accepts. I go today to pick it up and it's not just one compressor but two. One Belaire 218V and one Belaire 318VN. Both operational. This may get even better as they had an IR air dryer that were part of this set up and they are not replacing the compressors and may be getting rid of them which may come to me.

And for those that will post "Worthless without a pic"

Is it a compound setup or is it just two tanks sitting next to each other?

It's just 2 compressors side by side. I'll be keeping the 318VN and most likely selling the 218V. I live in an HOA community and only have a small 2 car garage. They take up a lot of space and I can't build a shed outside to house them due to HOA rules.

I need a compressor bad...

I had an old Husky oil less and it was noisy and would shut down if I was painting more than 2 motorcycle parts. I was about to go next month and buy the HF 60 gallon 2 stage with the pump that's made in Italy. The specs are really good on them. 15.8 CFM @ 90 PSI, 16.4 CFM @ 40 PSI. You have to make sure the pump is the one stamped Italy. Out the door, it would be $850 here in Florida.

Heck of a sweet deal. I thought I was lucky to get there 80 gallon compressors but only two functional and none as nice as those! I also get the issue with space. That's why my dad and two of my brothers now have 80 gallon compressors and I've got the same 120V compressor I've had for years ;)

so here's an update. The 318VN has a knock and is very noisy at this time. This is the one I wanted to keep as it puts out 19 CFM and by changing the motor to the 7.5 it will put out 25 CFM. Hopefully it's something simple.

The 218V is up and working great but is rated at only 15 CFM.

Once I figure out what's going on with the 318VN, I'll make a decision as to how to proceed.

Which is why I will never ever live in an HOA!!

Congrats on the compressor score though! That's awesome!

My company threw out a big (I’m guessing 80 or 100 gallon at least) old IR compressor cause the pump needed a rebuild kit.. we have fleet mechanics on site EVERY DAY in no rush to accomplish anything. So instead of buying the rebuild kit, and having their own mechanics rebuild the pump, some corporate person figured it made more sense to buy a brand new compressor, and then pay another company to install it.. the old one sat around for months as they figured out a way to “responsibly” dispose of it.
