Shrinker stretcher throat depth

It seems like the *********** shrinker stretchers would be limited by the large amounts of metal in the same plane that is not being stretched. If you wanted to use that extra throat depth do you just take bites that overlap on each other along laterally as well as radially? Is that extra throat depth something that I would really miss it I were to get a short throat set?

I have not actually used a *********** shrinker but here is how I would approach it. Picture your shrink as being pie shaped. For one shrink near the end of your total shrink, you would have to make several at the edge and fewer as you work to the end. I would try putting 3 or 4 shrinks at the edge and work inward and see how that works. Look up a video of tuck shrinking to get an idea of what I am describing.

If your thinking of doing a significant amount of shrink or stretching that having a *********** will matter, well, you should be thinking about welding in a second piece of metal instead
