Shutters on pole barn

So, the wife wants shutters on the pole barn. Standard vertical rib steel, the ribs are 3/4" tall and spaced 7" between them.

We have the shutters, just vinyl black regular house shutters. I am trying to figure out how to mount them. The corners do not land on the high points of the ribs nor do they land where the purlins are laterally or I would just screw to them.

Trying to do something secure that won't leak.

Thoughts?

I see two ideas. Rip some 3/4 pine into 1" strips same length as shutters. Paint to match shutters. Attach and caulk to wall being sure to anchor to horizontal gerts. Attach shutters to these strips. Second means would be to cut some plastic pipe into 3/4" long pieces. These would be spacers between the shutters and the siding. Dab a little caulk in the gold and attach shutters. Good luck.

Slap them on with magnets...If you get good ones, they won't come off even in a heavy storm. K&J Magnetics comes to mind. You will of course need to make some stand-offs/spacers to deal with the ribs, but it isn't that big of a deal. Use the screw holes in the shutter to screw on your stand-off block that has the magnets epoxied in. PVC trim board might be a contender or composite decking pieces.

Use some silicone caulk as glue on the high points.
The shutters are light and you avoid putting any holes in the building.

I found some countersunk neodymium magnets. How many pound force would I need? The shutters are vinyl and weigh about 10 pounds for the shoter ones and 14 or so for the larger.

A couple of these from Horrible Freight would probably work great. They're on sale for $3.99 ea & they have 2 holes in them for screwing...and if you can't screw them on, get yourself some 3M VHB foam tape. If applied correctly they will not come off. (or bypass the magnets and VHB them on...but they ain't coming off any time soon.)

Another option if you want a permanent installation is 3M 5200 Marine Adhesive/sealant. You'll need to masking/duct/foil tape them to the building until the adhesive cures, but you NEVER get them off...

I've mounted them by cutting spacers from 1/2" PVC conduit, put one at each mounting screw. If your shutter is solid on the back, your spacer will be 3/4", but usually you need to add for the shutter being hollow on the back.

Yea, homemade bushings.
