I am confused on what to do here. Price will be about the same I just need more storage for hand tools and diagnostic stuff. I currently have a blue international 27" 7 drawer box. I want to either add the hf 7 drawer end cab to it or get the masterforce 7 drawer top box. My screwdrivers pliers and a junk drawer (pens pencils ect.) Will move here as well as opening up space for other tools in the future.

Side box
doesn't match color
offers a couple of deep drawers (rags power tools diagnostic tools in cases)
keeps stuff off my 8' bench

Top box
offers more small drawers for organization. Will leave a 4" and 6" deep drawer open in current box
has top area for my old laptop I plan too hook into a Tv that can be closed.
takes up bench space. Current box is under bench this will sit on top of bench above box
costs $20 more than hf side cab but matches color of my current box.

any other pros and cons you guys see to either way?

I have considered selling it and getting the HF 44" box but I doubt id get more than $200 for this box used and thats probably a stretch with all of the cheap SO boxes out there. for $200 I can get the space I need and not have to deal with craigslist weirdos. The side cabinet also gives me almost the same drawer layout as the HF box minus the one big drawer across the top.

I would prefer a matching top box. The bottom box may not stay under the work bench forever. The side box is still going to burn up more space. It's always better to go taller than wider when space is at a premium.

Valid point. I could very easily put it next to the bench and put the trudge and jackstands under the bench and not lose any floor space and only a little wall space.

I like wider then higher, as I like using the my box as a work bench, and I store my charger on top of them. So if you like using your box as a work bench, then a side box would be a good idea, everyone has difference preference.

Dont like the drawer layout. Might if I can find one cheap though. I have to plan this out a little and see if that one is enough

sounds like you might have floor space issues...

i'd go with a top box, then a side box. or 2

if floor space is a problem, stack the 2 side boxes, or add a mid box

You have an 8 foot work bench already, might as well go with a top chest and not lose floor space.
It depends on your situation really. Do you need a work surface or floor space?
