I am reaching out to see if anyone can provide insight regarding hanging a Snap-on side cabinet onto a Snap-on roller cabinet. The cabinet is an older Kr-660 and the side cabinet is a Kr-290.

I’ve noticed the “j channel trim” piece on some roller cabinets allow the hanging of the side cabinets, but the roller cabinet I have does not have said trim. In searching pictures online, it appears to be a separate piece I need to attach to the roller cabinet in order to attach the side cabinet.

Can anyone tell me if this trim is a separate part number, or is it built into the box from the factory? Thanks in advance for any insight you may be able to provide.

Here is a picture for reference. The arrow is pointing to the piece I believe I need. Does anyone know if this part is separate from the box, or is it incorporated into the box at the factory? Thanks again in advance.

UPDATE: the part need to hang the side cabinets is part #KR560-10, unfortunately out of production since 2011. I am now open to ideas on how to attach the side cabinets if anyone has any ideas. Thanks again for your time.

I have been thinking of how to make something up, but the lip is so small I doubt I could get that bent at the proper angle.

I have thought about some extreme resolutions that I would prefer not to undertake without exploring all other options first. One would be to simply bolt the side cabinet to the chest, yet would require drilling holes in both units. I am not sure the "wall" of the chest would support the weight of the side cabinet, so that would take some additional insight.

The other extreme would be to cut a slot in the top edge of the chest to allow the lip of the side cabinet to latch into. I would most likely have to modify both units again to make this work.

Neither solution is optimal, but the actual parts have been discontinued and are so unique it will be near impossible to replicate. My preference would be to not have to permanently alter the units, but they will most likely never become separated again either way.

I had a KR660 back in the 90s. Had a side shelf mounted with that bracket. Find a HVAC/sheet metal place.
If they have a good tin man that tight bend should be no problem. The question would be cost with as crazy
as things are right now.

The bracket is a seperate part and I have only seen one or two in the wild. What I did with mine was put a 90 degree bend in piece of heavy gauge sheet with one long leg that would tuck under my top box. But I do have the correct top box for the KR660.

Great news! I found one on eBay and purchased it. I then took it to a fabrication shop specializing in commercial furnaces, and they were able to duplicate the part perfectly. Now I just need to paint. Shout out to Burners in Milford, Michigan!

I know this post is from a while ago but I was wondering what you had to search on ebay. I am in the same situation trying to hang a locker on the side of my kr560

I have bought and sold a lot of used boxes and side cabinets and have never seen that piece. Well done OP

In answering your question on would the side of the box hold the cabinet if you bolted it on, yes it would. 4 bolts and some washers would do the trick.

Also, if you were not planning on moving the box, put the cabinet on wood blocks. If you were going to move it, put casters on the side box or set in on a furniture dolly

I search “snap on side” and sorted by lowest price first. I think I paid $60 for the original, and I gave $80 plus $20 tip to the folks at burners for the second
Man, any chance they would make that piece again and ship it to Utah? Haha but really, nice job on getting that made! That’s awesome.

For you guys looking for the bracket Menards sells one for their Masterforce line for $10.00. It might be worth a shot to adapt it to work with other systems.

If you go to the above Menards website, you can download a PDF called 'assembly instructions'. It gives better views of the bracket and how to install it.

Edit - there's also a side locker bracket;

Thank you David! Yes, seeing that other side I can see that there will be modifications neccessary, but maybe I can make it work! Im excited to try. And for that price, I'll give it a shot. I think the hardest part about fabricating one myself, a) I'm really not much of a fabricator, YET.. b) to create the bend that the side cabinet will hang on would be impossible to me without a little brake or something. so buying a piece that has that already, I think I can work with that. Thank you David!
