Ok so this has been rattling around in my research list for a while and figured it's time to check in and get some input.
Background: Starting next year I'll be able to start work on my garage rebuild. I cannot increase the size of the garage because it'll increase my taxes too much so that the project is just a rebuild/rehab.
Scope: (1) Add car port off of side of garage: (2) Full driveway replacement either with asphalt, concrete or (less likely) pavers; (3) Replace garage floor (want to add lift but height won't allow); and (4) Replace garage door.
Question: Because I live in the northeast, carriage doors won't work well for me, but I still want something interesting. I can go with a typical overhead door but came across side opening doors Such as by Breda, Rundum and others, that look very cool, but these appear to be all European companies and distributers. My local door installers don't know what I'm talking about. I want to get a Side Sectional (which looks to be like an overhead door turned on its side) but haven't been able to find a US distributer.
Since I have to replace the floor anyway, this is a great opportunity since I'll have to put in a lower track guide. My goal will be to install the door and then build a false wall to hide most of the door when it's open (and allow me to hang yard tools).
Does anyone out there have one, or know of a supplier, especially if in the NY, PA, VT, MA, CT,NH areas? Also, thoughts, comments, insights, etc.?
