Hello Everybody,

I have this Craftsman BB Grip-Latch box (in black, now discontinued)with a matching full depth top chest.

I am very satisfied with this combo and it has served my needs well. I would like to add a little capacity, but would prefer a side box over an intermediate box. This box, along with many others, is 29" high excluding the casters. It seems like most of the hanging boxes are in the 32-34" range.

  • Does anybody know of a 29" option for these? I am flexible and could rearrange things to make either drawers or a locker work.

  • I have considered making a frame to elevate the stack a few inches to level this box with a 32"-34" hang on, but would prefer not to.

Thanks

I have a similar tool chest and it does okay in my workshop. Mine is different but they look like the same line. Can you tell what year you bought yours so I can try to match it up in the Sears tool catalog? Some of the catalogs had optional boxes like the intermediate chest and side boxes if you wanted them. I have a few old catalogs laying around and I might be able to find the matching add-on boxes. If they are completely discontinued you still might be able to find one on eBay or CL somewhere.

just get the side box, bolt it to the bottom box and let the top come up next to the top chest.
will work fine

Thanks everybody. I wanted to post a quick follow up to this thread. It looks like the Kennedy 185 series hang on box is a perfect fit for the craftsman. It's a hang on side box that is 29" high, 18" deep, and has 5 drawers. Unfortunately, this box is still about $400 so I will be keeping an eye out on Ebay/CL for a used example of one.

I will give this a few more more weeks, then I will likely resort to purchasing a taller side box and bolting it to the side of the bottom for a slightly higher shelf.
