Siding on studs - how to insulate?

Hey there,

I've got 2 walls of my 20'x25' garage that are currently studs with the backside of the exterior wood siding exposed. The other wall is common with the attached house and insulated and sheet rocked, the 4th wall is the garage door.

Any recommendations on how to tackle this problem? I've searched the forum and found some similar, but not identical, situations, so I thought I'd throw this question out there.

The house is just outside Seattle, built in '54. Ceiling is unfinished, vented at both ends of the peak.

Thanks

... tackle the problem?? What exactly are you trying to do? Are you going to put in a ceiling or leave it open to the rafters? Are there any soffit vents? As for the 2 walls, use roll insulation then cover with plastic for a vapor barrier and finish with drywall, osb or panelling.

You are looking at the siding through the studs and not some sort of sheathing? What kind of siding? If air can get through the siding into the stud bay cavity freely, any kind of fiber based insulation is going to be compromised with the airflow giving you lower insulation value and possible moisture issues.

Which problem? If you are asking about the kraft vapor barrier on fiberglass, it goes to the inside anyway.
