wondering what people think of using vinyl siding on the inside walls, I have a 40x80 barn, The rear is a shop for painting and restoring cars and the front is for toys and hanging out, Vinyl siding is cheap, white, and can be washed, What do ya think?

I don't think it would hold up well in a shop where you weld, grind or do any kind of hot metal work.

I have it on the outside of my shop. It gets dirty easy. A rock also flew out of the mower and put a hole in it. I used hard board on the lower half of the inside and peg board on the upper half.

I should have specified that the shop is divided in half, The front is for cleaning toys and the back half is the shop, I dont grind or mow in the front, I have never seen it done before, I can not finish and paint as cheap as it cost to side it

I suppose it could be done but it would make for difficult times trying to mount anything to the walls like cabinets, cord reels, etc. It won't do to well with impacts either.

Masonite makes a skinned product that comes in 4 x 8 sheets, that is real easy to install. Last time I bought a load from the Mr 2nd place it was 3 bucks a sheet.

I've used it for garage door panels and other weather exposure surfaces, and so far it lasted 10 years.

Something to think about....

Vinyl siding is "combustable" and would promote flame spread in a fire. Most commercially available interior wall coverings are designed to be non combustable or at least not promote flame spread.

What is Mr 2nd? I would love to find some 4x8 sheets for 3 bucks?

You would still have to put up OSB or plywood under the siding. Between the sheeting and siding expense you might want to consider 4X8 sheets of cement siding. I don't know how much more it would cost but it would be less labor and provide a finish that would hold up well.
