I'll be framing my shop with 2x6 stud walls on a footing and turn down slab.
I had planned on a metal building, but with conventional framing I have a lot of other options.
Is metal significantly cheaper than other options?
What a about fiber cement siding? It's awesome.

Stucco is going for 3.50/sqft up here, for comparison metal is .85c/sqft

I didn't look into the fiber cement siding.

How big s your shop and what are matching or wanting it to look like. Metal sheeting can't be beat for cost. Fiber cement more costly, more work to put up, and in most cases you still have to paint it. BUT, it looks nice and matches the house, etc.

I think it depends on if you are doing the work yourself. For me vinyl was a little cheaper because I will be doing the work. If someone else was building it for me metal was cheaper becaue of labor time

Curious where you're located as often when metal siding considered, then metal roof also planned??

Would help to get best GJ advice by Updating GJ Profile with City / State.

On a rental house backyard shed, my dad installed ribbed galvanized steel as he never wanted to paint it again! ;)
