siding repair question

New here to the forum and about to purchase a house. The house once had an attached deck that was taken off to move the house and never replaced/repaired. I would rather do a cement patio than a deck but am wondering what is all involved in repairing the siding. Can I piece it in as is or do I have to remove all the siding to fix? Thank you

It is vinyl siding. No pics as of right now

Vinyl siding is easy enough to patch in, but the main problem is color match - depending on the color of the original siding it may have faded from the sun.
