Sight glasses

I have been on the hunt for an inline fuel sight glass I did find this one pictured below but trying to see if I can get one cheaper

It kinda matters whether you're putting it on your lawnmower or fuel-injected racecar...

Don't cheap out on this. I had one of those glass-body filters you can buy at any autoparts stores & the diecast threads stripped and the end blew off while I was driving. I turned white as a sheet when I popped the hood to see why my fuel gauge was visibly dropping.


ETA: This was about 1982. I'm sure these filters are better made now that they come from China.

Finding a clear inline fuel filter from summit or somewhere and either popping the filter out or just leaving it in place seems like it would be easiest to find to accomodate your fuel line sizes. I would go with a plastic one though, the glass ones can be scary when they fail.

I worked for CAT for 12 years. I had all sizes of clear sight tubes they sell. None ever failed and they are invaluable for checking for air leaks in fuel systems. I never found any cheaper ones anywhere. Plexiglass tube itself is expensive but you could make your own slightly cheaper by ordering the clear rod and drilling tapping. You need to dull the cutting edges of the drills to make a clean hole. Use a sharpening stone to dull the cutting edges.

I have seen two cars nearly burn because of them.

On the other hand the glass piece makes a great guitar slide.

I actually picked one up from cat today. It's not gonna be set inline perm intel it's for diagnostic purposes mainly checking of fuel systems are picking up air.
I like the ones mshell56118 posted those are nice. I got one like the one pictured above from cat in industry. Only ran me 45 dollars so no big deal.

I have never used them at work probably should, I always looks for clumps of dirt stuck to fuel line on suction side or cap line on one end and put regulated air in it.. We use dye with those glasses also with high pressure fuel systems has made for some interesting low power problems
