All, I apologize of this is a dumb question, but asked my inspector and he didn’t seem to care either way. So I know top plate seams must overlap by at least 12”, but what about the sill plate and the wall bottom plate? I’ve got a 2x8 pt sill plate over my concrete stem wall, and then will have a 2x6 wall bottom plate (all 2x6 framing) sitting on the sill plate. On my back wall I used 16’ pt lumber for my sill plate, but also want to put my wall up in 16’ sections as its 32’ across. So the wall seam would end up within 1-2” of my sill plate seam. Is this an issue, or should I cut back the sill plate so the seams are further apart?
