I'd use Shoe Goo... it's great stuff. I use it to mount things on horizontal and vertical surfaces all the time.

Yeah I picked one up too ($3) and realized that it's only magnetic on one side. But the side that is magnetic is plenty strong!

Still trying to figure out what I am going to do with mine because I had just planned on sticking it to the side of my box with the magnet. Might end up gluing some strong magnets to the back of the bar or something.

Those are great, unless you wanted to magnetically mount it somewhere. :) They're really handy above a workbench, etc. somewhere you can mount it with screws! I have a very similar one I got from HF years ago.

I just bought one today too, I mounted mine to the side of my cart where it bolts together. I had to drill the holes out a little bigger

That's not a bad idea. I want to use the lid space though. Also I'm afraid stuff will fall off the side when you roll the cart on rough ground.

By the way check out the magnetic holders in the Lowe's tool aisle.
Those things are junk. They are barely strong enough to stick to your box, then when you put tools on it, forget about it. It's not a rail, more like a 8x10 poorly magnetized surface.

I don't think that's strong enough for my wrenches. They are pretty heavy.
I think I have some hard drive magnets that are really strong.

You need to figure out a way to glue some computer hard drive magnets to it. Those things are very strong.

I just realized these are advertised as 18", however the only usable magnetized space is about 16"

those are definitely NOT worth checking out. i bought a couple for 1/4" and they are total garbage. in my draw, the sockets fall off when i open and close it.
