I need some pro advice. I understand installing silt fence basics (trench, stake, and compact) but have to also go across a gravel driveway that will have truck traffic. What is the accepted method to allow construction trucks to cross the silt fence? I was thinking of cutting the wood stake at ground level and having vertical pipe in the ground, flush with the top of the ground. Then have metal posts that would slip into the below ground pipe to make a temporary post. The wood silt stakes (that were cut at ground level) would then be tye-wrapped to the temporary post. To allow truck traffic (concrete truck, etc) the tye-wraps would be cut and the fence laid on the ground and covered with plywood for protection while the truck crosses over. At the end of the day the plywood is removed, metal post inserted into below ground pipe and the wood stakes tye-wrapped to the metal post. I realize there would need to be slack in the fence at each end of the driveway to allow the silt fence to be laid down. I have searched and have not found any details about how to allow construction trucks to cross the silt fence. Anyone have a solution you use for this issue?
