Does anyone know a source to buy the same paint that the Rail road used on all of there signs, and RR crossings in silver?

I am a Paint contractor, and one of my customers want me to repaint his water tower that is 75' tall.

He is asking for this kind of paint. I am not sure it is the way to go, but thought I would throw it out there and see what comes up.

In the end I will ask my Sherwin Williams paint rep to tell me whats best. However, most tank coatings end up at the same price as car paint per gallon, and I know I will lose a lot to overspray.

Are you talking about the reflective paint? Try Flex-O-Lite if they are still in business, they made the glass beads that goes in the paint on highway lines. the other division was TMT pathways that made the machines that spray the paint, both used to be owned by JPI (Jackson Products) but now Kimberly Clark. At least there's a place to start...

I think a lot of railroad signs/posts/etc. are a silver color because they're mostly made out of galvanized steel.

I've seen that stuff. I used to walk along the railroad when I was a kid. All their equipment was covered with this heavy silver paint. It looked like it had been sprayed with tar and then had a silver topcoat.
