2004 Silverado. Swapped a 5.3 in from a 4.8.

Wound up getting the ECU reflashed. Now the transmission seems harsh, particularly first to second shifts, particularly when cold. Coincidence ?

Factory reflash or performance aftermarket? I don't know about your particulars but I can see where a perf. reflash has the capability to firm up shifts. Talk to the guy who did the reflash and ask him.

agreed......the tuner may have used his standard 5.3 swap flash that includes reduced/eliminated torque management

Not sure about the 4L60s, but the Allison can shift a little harsh/crappy after a reflash as it goes through the re-learn process. It goes away in not much time.

I don't think I'd run a stock 4L60E without torque management. They are not that strong of a transmission. They were designed to run behind the old small blocks. The LS motors are pretty strong. There are different transmission segments depending on the year of the tune and the vehicle it came from. Some run higher pressures than others.

Eliminating torque management can make the 1-2 shift slam at max. Ask whoever flashed it for a different tune.
