Wanted to kick one of these off as a place to chronicle my progress, so here we go...

We bought our home in October 2006 when we relocated from New Orleans, LA to Beaumont, TX. Our home is just north of Beaumont in a growing town called Lumberton. It was a new development and we're the first owners of our house. Love this place, and even though we get the itch to move/build from time to time, this place fits our small family quite well.

The garage is a two-car attached and is about 21' wide and 22' deep. I've been browsing cabinet options for far longer than I'd care to admit but have always been reluctant to pull the trigger. Priorities have been kept straight over the last 10 years, but the time is finally fitting for me to spend a little time and money in getting my garage where I've always wanted it to be.

When we moved into the house, I purchased a few shelving units to get things up off the ground and against the wall. One of the shelving units was broken into two side by side, half height shelves that doubled as a worktop. Later, I scored a thin slab of butcher block and turned the half-height shelves into an 8-ft workbench and added some vertical track shelving to keep my car cleaning supplies organized. I also scored a heavy duty Hallowell cabinet and used that to put some things out of site. Bike storage was up on the wall but really in the way of getting into the back seats of the cars and in/out of the garage along the side walls. That basically catches me up to a month ago.

Over the last month, I've done a good bit of cleaning up and shuffling around in preparation for some bigger changes. The Hallowell cabinet is now in my 10-ft x 12-ft shed in the back yard and is serving well to store my yard work supplies, extra paint for the house, and power tools. The tall shelving unit has been cleared and relocated into my decked attic to clean up the organization up there. The bikes are now on the back wall using a Gladiator Geartrack and the tires are up high and out of the way on a Tire Rack wall mounted storage rack.

I've taken advantage of a great sale at NewAge Products and have a 10-piece set of their Bold Series cabinets on the way in the coming weeks.

Once the cabinets are in, future plans (as of now) will include...
*paint the walls (possibly a light shade of gray)
*additional organization for my most frequently used hand tools
*additional organization for my car cleaning supplies
*flooring upgrades (possibly Racedeck tiles or BLT coin-top rolls)
*lighting upgrades (maybe just two more dual 4-ft LED fixtures)

Look forward to taking this journey with the group of helpful folks on this forum. Stay tuned for the first updates once the cabinets arrive.

Feel free to ask questions and request additional pics.

Hello from a fellow Texan.
Those cabinets should look nice in there. Already pretty clean looking so they should help. You planning on only one wall or having them all around the garage?

Thanks MrBalll!

I've been teaching myself Sketchup and so far it's been helpful to get things laid out conceptually. Below is a screenshot of what my plans are for the 10-pieces (including worktop) from NewAge.

The tall cabinets are 18" deep and 30" wide. After much measuring and checking clearances. I'm fairly confident I'll be able to open both cabinets with both cars parked in the garage, and I'll definitely be able to get the kids into the back seat without the cabinets being in the way.

Other things you might notice in that screenshot are some Ikea Grundtal rails (inspired by Rick's Audi Double) and an idea about possibly tiling the wall where the bike tires rest.

Well the New Age cabinets have been in for about a month and a half and I love them. I went with the Bold Series and you'll see the arrangement I opted for in the photos below. I've also added some Wall Control metal pegboard for storing some car cleaning tools. I'd like to get a few shelves put up to display and organize a bit more on that wall, but for now the space is taken up with some of my old car show awards and display boards. I also changed up the light switch near the door to include a plug for my GUV. I like this much better than the cable stapled to the wall and leading to the other socket as it was in the past. I'm also testing out some RaceDeck FreelFlow tiles below my wall of cabinets to see how I feel. i bought enough to try and gauge how they'll space length and width wise across the floor.

I've made several updates over the last couple years, but they've been subtle adjustments to my tool storage, detailing gear, and wall hangings. Recently, I went through with something I've been wanting to do before I moved into this house...RaceDeck Freeflow tile flooring. These latest pics show most of my updates:

*Relocated bikes elsewhere
*Wall mounted air hose & extension cord
*Porter Cable pancake compressor
*Wall mounted rack for air tools
*Second tire storage rack (recently sold one set of wheels and built a custom shelf for up there)
*Additional Wall Control boards for detailing gear
*Ikea Grundtal bar for hanging detailing product bottles
*New wall hangings and rearrange others
*New wall clock
*RaceDeck Freeflow flooring in black, alloy (silver), and graphite (gray).

Very satisfied with the outcome. Enjoy!

Nice update. That RaceDeck really takes the garage to the next level. Are you having any issues with it buckling in the Texas heat? It is fairly common for people in really hot climates to have this issue near the door.

Also, all that work and you never painted the walls? Shame on you.:bounce: They are crying out for a nice shad of grey now.

Thanks. The RaceDeck is fresh and was just installed last week. I'll keep an eye out for that though.

And about the paint...I KNOW! It's killing me. I've been patching holes from old Gladiator strips and rearranging wall hangings. I think the setup on the wall is just about done now and then I'll be ready to lay down a coat of paint.
