Today was still hot and humid, so only took on a simple project. Had to get a larger (and longer) snake last week to take care of a kitchen sink drain blockage that was way down under the basement floor. The new snake did the job, but it came in a plastic bag, so today I made a proper carrier for it.

The materials were simple 3/16" rod, that came from previous election signs. If they do not remove their garbage in the required 3-4 day period, I help them out..........gots lots of rod material now.

Bent up some arms and welded them to a washer in the form of a cross. Note the Ball Bungies, look for them if you don't already have some. They are a simple bungee loops with a ball on the end. Great for other jobs such as neatly storing rolls of extension cords, air hoses, etc, etc.

is this a metal bender?

Bender, it is. Made from whatever was on hand. The pins are 1/2" diameter and the holes are drilled 1" on center. The stub handle makes it easier to store, in use you would put on a length of pipe over that stub. That larger die is 3" pipe with cross bars welded on. Could have put it in the lathe to drill, but just made a circular paper pattern and center punched through the paper.........close enough for this application. The others are things that were accumulated along the way. Mine was made long before those HF types were so commonplace and is quite a bit smaller. Good for many bends, around the shop.

I'm impressed. I hope you don't mind if I steal it .... coz i already did.

Be my guest.......that is the reason I like those GOOD pictures. I have certainly borrowed many ideas from online sites. That is the reason we are here is it not?.............all about sharing. Post some pics when you have it made, maybe some improvements.

That bender could be relieved on the square tubing pivot end to make it a bit easier to make "over 90" bends. Have pics of another that has that alteration if anyone wants to see............
