That's pretty damn cool. I'm not even a 4wd guy, but that's an awesome truck. Any action shots, or is it still under construction?

Nice work.
You don't need a lift to change oil when you have a truck you can walk under on own wheels. Christ that thing is tall.

What does a truck like that way in the finished state? those rockwell axles alone are heavy sob's. Build burly if your gonna drive like you stole it, and 'm sure you are.

I actually thought it would weigh more, those axle gotta weigh a grand a pop, those wheels and tires what 350 per. What is the power plant and trans in your obsession.

GREAT PICS, great SKILLS!!

OK, school me: is there any advantage to big-weight? As said, the axles alone weigh tonnes, so why add so much more with the bumpers? I would think one could build something near as strong with lighter material - No?

And what is the disc brake set up on the axle for?

Again - thanks for the pics - I love learning and seeing great skills at work!

Bumpers on the Full size are around 150lbs. each and are more for standing on than anything else. At some point there will be mud + water up to them and hooking up for a tow would SUX with nothing to stand on.

50+inches of water-mud

Disc on the axle"pinion brake" are the only brakes there are for the truck

I would love to come hang out in your shop for a day. My passion is desert race rigs but i know there is stuff to be learned from what you guys do.
When i look at rock crawlers i see serious parts that are bulletproof, my only issue is the weight for my application.
What kind of gear ratio is in those rockwell's and i would be curious to know what kind of travel you get out of that bronco from full bump to full drop. And i know you guys are not going for travel, i am just curious.

Do these machines drive much better [ more comfortable ] with coil overs as opposed to leafs front and rear?
is the single brake on the rockwells enough stopping power?

world of difference between our rigs.

Leafs work but after a place get cross rutted ,they will KILL you.

1 brake seams to work for a lot of guys.I have always ran 2.
At events the roads to the holes are FULL of damn 4wheelers,most are drunk and think you can see them.

The blue truck will stop ALL 4 tires at any speed we run,and I mean STOP
the brakes have a 6.72 advantage over wheel brakes

Takes some experience to get used to rolling threw big whoops while traveling fast. Whoops are like marriage, you are 100 percent committed when you enter them, and you have to be consistent or you are going to wad up your truck.
Back to the your brakes, don't they get all packed with mud doing what you do? I have never sloshed around in the mud in a monster like you have there, i could only imagine it is like being a kid again.

The bearings are huge. Most guys drill+tap the hubs for zerk fittings and keep them pumped full.On 2 1/2 ton rock all 4 hubs are packed with grease, there's a outer seal on the rear to keep the gear oil out of the hub.

Like those bumpers. I'd like to do something similar on the rear of my snowplow truck w/a couple clevis mounts. "Recovery points" I think they call them. LOL

I'd like to lift my plow truck 4"-6" max and gain some articulation(75 Chevy 3/4-ton). You guys know any good sites to look at components/builds? I've trolled around Pirate 4x4 a bit, but it's more ******** than what I'm after.
