Simple hammer form part for boat.

Girlfriend wanted a little boat for her birthday. Called around and found one for free. But like anything free it needed some work.
Among other things the transom and corners were pretty bad.

Started by removing the corners and figuring out my new shape. Next cut out the forms from a broken MDF shelf board. Drilled 1/4" holes at the end of the forms to place alignment pins.



Cut out the corner blanks and double checked the fit.



Next sooted the blanks with the oxy acetylene torch and burned it off to anneal the aluminum.



Clamped the blanks in the forms and worked the edges over. Just used a chunk of 2x4 that I belt sanded a radius on for the inside.



There is a lot of material to gather and shrink on the outside corner so I finish planished it over a home made post doll.



New transom and corners installed. Turned out well and is considerably stronger than before.

Very nicely done! Curious tho how hard you had to swing the hammer to get the 0.63 aluminum to bend?

Great work! I would never thing to metal form it. I would have made the top and sides as separate pieces, and welded/blended.
