When MAC puts an R at the end of a part number, that means the tool has been Revised. You'll see that on their sockets and wrenches that have been improved by revising them to the macdrive system. The macdrive system is their version of off corner engagement similar to Snap-on's flankdrive. When they went to macdrive, they also made the wall thickness of the socket and box end thinner.
